The other day, my wife and I stumbled upon a museum during our visit and a particular article on Ara Guler caught my eye. Back when I was a graphic design student in Istanbul in 2015, I learned a lot about him. Intrigued, I wanted to see what was inside the museum. But first, let me give you some information about Ara Güler.
Ara Güler was born in Istanbul on August 16, 1928. While he started journalism in Yeni Istanbul Newspaper in 1950, he also attended Istanbul University Faculty of Economics. - took on the duties of the correspondent. In 1954, he started to work as the head of the photography department in Hayat Magazine.
In 1953, the "Photography Annual Anthology" identified him as one of the 7 best photographers in the world.
If you want more detailed information, I leave a link below.
Ara Güler
The museum had a small entrance and only 2 people were working inside, we asked the staff if we could go inside, even though there was a museum on the door :)
As soon as you enter, a photo of Ara Güler greets you at the door.
You can also buy cameras, bags, lenses, cloths for cleaning photos, etc. for sale here. Professional cameras are exhibited in the red cabinet you see next to the big picture.
Cameras and lenses range from 20.000 TL to 250,000 TL depending on your budget.
You can also buy Ara Güler's books here.
Now let me show you some of the photos he took and give some information about some of them ;
- Ara Güler's own drawing on the paper you see on the back of the photos
Although Ara Güler prefers to take black-and-white photos, most of the images here are in color, and most of his award-winning photos are in black and white.
"Has been described as" ;
Ara GÜLER's second Istanbul book, this time, consists of colorful photographs. The photographs do not lie and describe life as it is. These photographs are the life of a city for those who can see.
Ara Güler loved to take pictures of the Bosphorus, the estuary, and the people living there.
Now I want to show you some of the photos I took close up, you can look at them in more detail because most of the photos I've shared so far have been shot from afar or small photos.
Look at the difference in the quality of the photo my wife and I took, she is far better but I'm still learning ;) "She took the photo above"
That was the content of this museum, but I will share with you some photos and details of Ara Güler.
- Throughout his lifetime, photographer Ara Güler has captured many famous figures ranging from Aşık Veysel to Salvador Dali, from Picasso to Winston Churchill.
