Hello everyone
Our adventure in Phang Nga Bay Trip continued as the sun reached its highest point in the sky, we made our way to Panyee Island after visiting the stunning James Bond Island earlier in the day. The speed boat tour took us across the beautiful waters, and we couldn't help but feel excited about what was in store for us.
As we approached the island, I was struck by its beauty. Koh Panyee was a small island with a flat area of about 1 rai, located mostly in Phang Nga Bay and within the mangrove forest area of Ao Phang Nga National Park. The towering cliffs surrounding the island made for a breathtaking sight. It was no wonder tourists flocked here to experience the charm of this unique place. Despite being small, the island was packed with things to do and see. There was a school on the island, along with floating soccer fields, health stations, mosques, and shops.
Panyee Island was a bustling hub of activity, with the sound of boats and chatter filling the air. The villagers, who had made their homes on stilts above the water, were going about their daily business, completely unfazed by the constant stream of tourists.
After our boat docked, we made our way to a nearby restaurant for lunch. The food was delicious, and we savored every bite as we watched the locals going about their daily business. We couldn't help but admire the way of life of the villagers who had made their homes on stilts above the water. They seemed to be content with their simple yet fulfilling lifestyle.
After lunch, we decided to explore the island and do some shopping. The small shops that lined the narrow alleys were filled with a variety of goods, from colorful sarongs and trinkets. We had heard that the famous product of Koh Panyee was pearl, which was used to make various ornaments. We visited the shops and picked up some beautiful souvenirs to take back home.
As we walked around the island, we had the opportunity to see firsthand the simple yet inspiring way of life of the villagers. Despite the challenges of living on an island in the middle of the sea, the villagers had created a thriving community that was welcoming and friendly. We even had the chance to visit the local school and mosque, which were both located on the island.
The floating soccer field on Panyee Island was a sight to behold. It was the first and only football stadium in Thailand, and it was an impressive feat of engineering that allowed the villagers to enjoy their favorite sport despite the limited space available on the island.
The field was built on a floating platform and was tethered to the shore. The platform was made of sturdy wood, and there were nets on both ends to prevent the ball from falling into the water. The field was surrounded by water, and the players had to be careful not to kick the ball too hard, or it would end up in the sea.
The floating soccer field was a testament to the ingenuity and creativity of the villagers on Panyee Island. Despite the challenges they faced living on a small, crowded island, they had found a way to come together and enjoy their favorite sport. It was a symbol of their resilience and determination to make the most of their limited resources.
After a satisfying lunch on Panyee Island, we had to hurry to catch our next destination - Koh Hong. The tour operator gave us 1.30 hours to enjoy lunch, sightsee around Koh Panyee, and shop, but time flew by quickly, and before we knew it, it was time to move on.
Koh Hong was a complex limestone mountain, surrounded by cliffs that rose out of the sea almost all around. The cliffs were adorned with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, which looked like a room inside the room under the foot of the cliff. It was a breathtaking sight to behold. As we approached the island, we could see that it was like a hidden paradise, untouched and unspoiled by human intervention.
We were excited to take the canoe ride service, which would take us on a journey through the small caves that were widely distributed around the island. The canoes were manned by skilled and knowledgeable guides who knew the area like the back of their hand.
As we settled into the canoe, our guide expertly maneuvered the boat through the calm waters around Koh Hong. The scenery around us was absolutely breathtaking, with towering cliffs rising up out of the sea, their jagged edges creating a dramatic contrast against the clear blue sky.
As we paddled along, our guide suddenly pointed out a cliff that was shaped like an elephant's head. At first, we couldn't quite see it, but as we got closer, the resemblance became clear. The cliff had two protrusions that looked like the elephant's ears, and the shape of the head was unmistakable.
We were amazed by the natural beauty around us, and the fact that nature had created something so intricate and detailed. Our guide shared with us the history and significance of the elephant head, and we listened in awe as he spoke about the local legends and myths that surrounded the area. As we paddled through the elephant's head, we felt a sense of wonder and amazement at the beauty of the natural world.
As we continued our canoe ride around Koh Hong, we were struck by the incredible variety of shapes and formations that we saw in the stalactites and stalagmites. Our guide pointed out some of the more unusual formations, such as one that looked like a penis and another that resembled a twisted, gnarled hand. It was fascinating to see how different people interpreted the shapes and forms, and we realized that it was really up to each individual's imagination to see what they wanted to see.
The stalactites and stalagmites were formed over thousands of years, as minerals slowly built up and solidified into these unique formations. It was a testament to the power and beauty of nature, and we felt grateful to have had the opportunity to witness it firsthand. As we paddled through the small caves and crevices that dotted the cliffs, we marveled at the intricate details of the stalactites and stalagmites, and we couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder at the incredible world that lay beneath the surface of the earth.
As we approached Koh Hong, we could see that it truly was the highlight of the tour. The entrance to the island was marked by a stunning archway of stalactites and stalagmites, which curved gracefully overhead. Our boat guide expertly navigated the shallow waters, taking advantage of the low tide to glide easily through the entrance to the island. We marveled at the sheer size and scale of the rock formations, which towered above us like natural skyscrapers.
Once inside, we were struck by the natural beauty of the island. The interior of Koh Hong was like a room without a roof, with only a giant tree growing in the center, its branches spreading out like a giant heart. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground below.
As we left Koh Hong and continued on our journey, we entered an area that was completely different from the beautiful clear waters we had just experienced. This part of the region was a mangrove forest, and during low tide, the water became murky and muddy. In some areas, the water level had receded so much that it was impossible to navigate by boat. Our guide expertly steered the boat through the shallow areas, but eventually, we had to get off and walk through the mud until we reached deeper water.
As we continued to explore Koh Hong, we noticed that the rocks. In addition to crabs, corals, and sea fans, we saw colorful fish swimming. The guide told us that the fishermen in the area often use these materials to make various ornaments and good luck charms, which are sold to tourists as souvenirs.
After spending about an hour exploring Koh Hong, we hopped back on our speedboat and set off for Koh Yao, our next destination. The journey was smooth and enjoyable, with the sea breeze blowing through our hair as we admired the stunning views of the Andaman Sea.
As we arrived at Koh Yao Yai, we were welcomed by the sound of gentle waves and the sight of white sand beaches. The tour guide directed us to a beautiful beach bar where we could relax and watch the stunning sunset. The sun slowly descended on the horizon, painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the sound of the waves created a relaxing ambiance. We took pictures and chatted about the highlights of our trip. As the sun finally set, we felt grateful for the amazing experience we had. After the sunset, we headed back to the boat that would take us to the mainland.
