Hey all!
Well for this bit of travel I decided to try something different, a Med Cruise on MSC Musica!
A smaller ship by todays megaship standards coming in at 92,400gt, she's more of a old school style ship in the traditional cruising sense, so a very chilled time onboard this one.
This cruise had ports of call starting in Cannes, then onto Barcelona, Ibiza, Caligari, Civitavecchia, and Genoa!
Today I am starting with a tour of Ibiza Town starting from arrival.
Starting off, this is the view from the balcony of my cabin, I was given one on the Port side of the ship but as they sometimes reverse in, I ended up with the sea view this time.
For what is classed as a small to mid size ship now, these things are still massive, but can only imagine what it would feel like standing next to World Europa!
Last view before going into town.
Transport into town (or walk if your okay with a 3km walk) leads to this view over the harbour that overlooks the old town and Castell d'Eivissa.
This is where I'll be walking up to as part of the visit. But let's enjoy the architecture of this lovely town first!
Teatro Pereyra, the local performing arts theatre where currently a cabaret show covering the history of performance on the island of Ibiza is covered, all through the medium of....MUSIC!
Now back to the journey up the hill
With a stop on the way just to catch the view over the old town houses they have in Ibiza town.
This way looking over town into the harbour.
It might not look it but I am getting closer.
These two images show how tranquil a setting this is within the town, where only a few hundred meters away the main road through exists, but from here you wouldn't know it.
A much clearer view over the harbour and port of Ibiza where you can see the fancy yachts, as well as car ferries that sail over to Dania, Valencia and other locations.
Would these be considered as prime locations?
Local artists during my visit were using Baluard de Santa LlΓΊcia as a spot to highlight the amount of plastic waste that is found in the streets and waters and encouraging recycling rather then throwing away.
One of the monuments outside the Cathedral that is part of the Castle.
view from the castle looking east, enough to see the wonderful Mediterranean blue sea colours.
These streets were just so photogenic and begging for photos to be taken, at least once clear of people, which took a lot of waiting!
But spotting something like this, allowing for artistic street photography to be done was a delight. A real change from photos for tourism reasons.
Another view east towards the Airport, which within this photo includes many of the resort hotels such as the Grand Palladium Palace and Hard Rock Hotel, but also venues such as Hi! Ibiza and DC10!
By this point, the idyllic streets were still present, but the awareness of the islands renowned history in club music was being noticed, with music playing from the bars and eateries reminding you of the dance vibe.
And there is really no escaping it, the famous Pacha cherries adorn the main street and harbour.
As well as signs promoting all the club nights and parties due that evening and next day!
Still if you are in the mood the pre party vibes waiting you you to make yourself at home in!
And of course the Veng...Virgin Cruises party ship arrives to sample these opening parties. And just to top it off, have a look at their night lights!
Anyhow, that's just a short visit to Ibiza Town, and if anyone is open for a photo tour if MSC Musica that can be done, as is the other locations!
