Hello everyone!!!
I hope you are well or are trying to be well. Today we would normally talk to you about Izmir Archaeological Museum, but I didn't feel like doing that. Right now, Bercestem and I are both writing in a cafe and I want to enjoy it.
With headphones in my ears and some classical music, let's complete the rest of our Izmir trip.
Unfortunately, I can't remember exactly where we are now, but we are on the streets of Izmir and we are heading towards our destination, Şirince. On this road, the first thing that caught my attention after the museum was the Starry Night themed stairs that you can see on the right side of the cover photo.
I wish I had the presence of mind to have taken this photo by leaning down a little lower, but that's okay. It's not too bad, is it? ISN'T IT?
Church of St John
Continuing on the road, we go to a kind of structure that is abundant in the history and ruins of the Aegean region. A church.
To be a bit specific, the Church of St John and its famous Pursuit Gate.
Unfortunately, I couldn't take a photo because it was too crowded and the sun was on the wrong side, but fortunately I took detailed photos of the church.
The first thing that attracted our attention in the church after the Tracking Gate was the view. While we were focusing on the view, our main guide focused on something I can't remember the name of, which was right there and showed a 3D map of the church.
As far as I understand, our guide actually wanted to show us another place first. It was only when so many people suddenly focussed on the view that he had to change his plan. More precisely, he talked about the features of the map, praised the view even more, and took us to the church, which was originally the first point of visit. I think this is one of the skills and abilities that a professional tourist guide should definitely have.
To adapt to the flow of the tour and the wishes of the people.
Isn't it a marvellous view? If you saw something like that, would you focus on this or the church? There was also another map in the same way, but I don't remember what it was at the moment, please excuse me.
Even if I can't remember, with a little brainstorming, it is possible to say that this is actually a map of the region. Now that I think about it a bit more, I wonder if one was a map of the Church's territory and the other was a map of the other side?
That's pretty much all that's left of the church now. According to our guide, this church belongs to St John, the biblical writer. Or rather in his name. His grave lies here. I would like to go into a little more historical detail because this church and the person to whom it is dedicated are very important for the human rights that we use today.
This church is dated to the 6th or 7th centuries AD, although there is no exact date. This is already the dates of Justinien I, the emperor of the period. At the same time, Justinien I orders the construction of this church. His wife Theodora also contributed to this.
Now, if I come to the part I mentioned above about today's human rights. Justinien I stands out a little more than the others with the rules of governance he organised.
It is known that he corrected the corruption and bribery in the administrative structure. Today, a slightly more elaborated version of these rules, brought to the level of today's societies, is implemented as human rights.
Şirince
Those who do not know Türkiye obviously do not know Şirince. Şirince means different things for everyone, but for me there are only 2 things. The first is wine and the second is the apocalypse.
We will talk about the wine in a moment, but before that, I would like to talk about the apocalypse. Everything started with the end of the Mayan calendar in 2012. I remember those days, although not clearly. It was as if the day coincided exactly with 21 December of the 12-month calendar that we actively use.
Somehow a rumour got out and everywhere in Türkiye or in the world, I'm not sure, was going to disappear, except Şirince. That year, Şirince was flooded with visits. People crowded and overflowed. 21 December happened, but nothing happened in the world or in Türkiye. Except that Voldemordogan won the election again.
Anyway.
Now let's come to Şirince and its wines. Şirince is known for its fruit wines. They are great producers. Especially with the fruits they produce themselves.
These lovely people who run Hera Wine House gave us plenty of wine tastings. I must have tried more than half of the wines you see in the photo above. My favourite among them, which will not seem absurd to someone who knows my palate, was the cherry wine. If I remember correctly, the alcohol content should be 17-19%. I bought 2 bottles when I left.
Can you see me in the photo above? Could this be such a bad timing? By the way, I should add that I got permission to use this photo from the friend who took it.
I don't use the word hate very often, but there were some I hated. Melon wine. I don't think I've ever tasted anything worse in my life. I just realised, did you see the friend on the back left side who sewed the wine bottle on his head? He is Cemre Akman and I would like to give him a shout out from here. He is a person with a great voice, guidance and fatherhood. I suggest you follow him.
Now for one of the really funny parts. After all, we did go to a wine house, didn't we? Of course, there were some people who got drunk just from the tastings, but I'm still intact. You may not believe it, but weight really does increase alcohol resistance.
By the way, I should add that there were some people who couldn't get up to speed and opened bottles of wine on the way back to the hotel. This little video is a memory from there.
Maybe you know that I love this song very much. It also made me very happy to end this writing with this favourite song.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Bugün sizinle normalde İzmir Arkeoloji Müzesi'ni konuşacaktık fakat bunu hiç yapasım gelmedi. Şu anda Bercestemle birlikte bir kafede ikimiz de yazı yazıyoruz ve bunun keyfini de çıkarmak istiyorum.
Kulağımda kulaklıklar biraz klasik müzikle hadi geri kalan İzmir gezimizi tamamlayalım.
Şu anda ne yazık ki tam olarak nerede olduğumuzu hatırlayamıyorum fakat İzmir sokaklarındayız ve hedefimiz olan Şirince'ye doğru gideceğiz. Bu yolda müzeden sonra ilk dikkatimi çeken şey kapak fotoğrafında sağ tarafta da görebileceğiniz Yıldızlı Gece temalı merdivenler oldu.
Keşke şimdiki aklım olsa da biraz daha aşağıya eğilerek bu fotoğrafı çekmiş olsam ama olsun. Çok kötü de sayılmaz, değil mi? DEĞİL Mİ?
St. John Kilisesi
Yolun devamında ise Ege bölgesinin tarihinde ve kalıntılarında bol bol bulunan bir çeşit yapıya gidiyoruz. Bir kiliseye.
Biraz spesifik olmak gerekirse St. John Kilisesi ve onun meşhur Takip Kapısı'na.
Ne yazık ki o sırada çok kalabalık olduğu ve güneş de ters tarafta olduğu içn bir fotoğraf çekememiştim ama neyse ki kilisenin detaylı fotoğraflarını çektim.
Kilisede Takip Kapısı'ndan sonra bizim ilk dikkatimizi çeken şey manzara oldu. Baş rehberimiz biz manzaraya odaklanırken hemen orada bulunan ve kilisenin 3 boyutlu haritasını gösteren adını hatırlayamadığım bir şeye odaklandı.
Anladığım kadarıyla aslında rehberimiz bize ilk olarak başka bir yeri göstermek istiyordu. Sadece bu kadar fazla kişi bir anda manzaraya odaklanınca planını değiştirmek zorunda kaldı. Daha doğrusu haritanın özelliklerinden bahsedip manzarayı daha da övüp sözü aslında bağlamak istediği yere bağladı ve orijinal olarak birinci ziyaret noktası olan kiliseye götürdü. Bence profesyonel bir turist rehberinde kesinlikle olması gereken yetenek ve kabiliyetlerden birisi bu.
Turun akışına ve insanların isteklerine uyum sağlamak.
Harika bir manzara değil mi? Siz de böyle bir şeyi görseniz buraya mı odaklanırdınız yoksa kiliseye mi? Bir de yine aynı şekilde başka bir harita daha vardı fakat şu anda bu haritanın ne olduğunu hatırlamıyorum. Kusuruma bakmayın lütfen.
Hatırlayamasam bile biraz beyin fırtınası ile birlikte aslında buranın da bölgenin haritası olduğunu söylemek mümkün. Şimdi biraz daha düşündüm de acaba birisi kilisenin topraklarının haritasıydı da diğer karşı tarafın haritası?

Şirince
Türkiye'yi bilmeyen açıkçası Şirince'yi de bilmez. Şirince herkes için farklı şeyler ifade eder fakat benim için sadece 2 şey var. Birincisi şarap ve ikincisi ise kıyamet.
Şaraba birazdan değineceğiz fakat bundan önce kıyamet kısmına değinmek istiyorum. 2012 yılında Maya takviminin sonuna gelinmesi ile başlamıştı her şey. O günleri net olmasa da hatırlıyorum. Sanki günü tam olarak aktif olarak kullandığımız 12 ay takviminin 21 Aralık'ına denk geliyordu.
Bir şekilde bir dedikodu çıktı ve Türkiye'de ya da dünyada, emin değilim, her yer yok olacaktı ama Şirince dışında. O yıl Şirince'ye akın akın ziyaretler oldu. Hera Şarap Evi'ni işleten bu sevimli insanlar bize bol bol şarap tattırdılar. Yukarıdaki fotoğrafta gördüğünüz şarapların yarısından fazlasını denemişimdir. Bunlar arasından en beğendiğim, benim damak zevkimi bilen birisine absürt gelmeyecektir, vişne şarabı oldu. Alkol oranı da yanlış hatırlamıyorsam %17-19 olması gerekiyor. Oradan ayrılırken 2 şişe aldım.

Nefret kelimesini çok sık kullanmam fakat içlerinden nefret ettiğim de vardı. Kavun şarabı. Hayatımda tadı daha kötü bir şey denediğimi hatırlamıyorum açıkçası. Şimdi fark ettim de arka sol tarafta şarap şişesini kafasına diken arkadaşı gördünüz mü? Kendisi Cemre Akman buradan ona bir seslenmek isterim. Hem sesi, hem rehberliği hem de babalığı harika olan birisi. Bir takip etmenizi öneririm.
Şimdi gelelim asıl komik yerlerden birine. Sonuçta şarap evine gittik değil mi? Elbette insanlar arasından sadece tadımlarla sarhoş olan oldu ama ben sapa sağlamım. İnanmayabilirsiniz fakat kilo gerçekten de alkol direncini artırıyor.
