And now we're going somewhere with you. Somewhere special. Normally, this exhibition belonged to a specialised individual. I mean, it wasn't state-owned. So I don't know if I will ever see the same exhibition again.
Although the first thing I told you about are the carpets, this carpet exhibition is actually located in the famous Sultan Khan. The inn is quite big and has wonderful artefacts. Each room has a different artefact, but let's take a look at the entrance first.

The entrance is quite magnificent like Shifaiye, Gok Madrasa and Double Minaret Madrasa. The carvings are very beautiful. The influence of the Seljuk Period can be easily seen again.
Contrary to the examples in the neighbourhood, there is a domed masjid in the centre of Sultan Khan.
Until then, I had never seen a caravanserai or an inn specifically built for worship, let alone in the centre. Of course, it would be surprising not to see the traces of Islam on this caravanserai built by Sultan Alaaddin Keykubad I in 1229. Although the visual emptiness of Islam was dominant, the entrance was very ornate, which was already a feature from the previous period.

Also, the reason why I sometimes say han and sometimes caravanserai is that the two meanings are not very far from each other. Of course there is a difference between them, but using the word han all the time is very strange when writing.
I told you about the chambers above, and in each of these chambers there were different artefacts. Although it had nothing to do with it, for some reason it made me think that the guests who stopped here to eat, rest and sleep were separated by race and status. Of course, this may also be to remain a bit private. After all, you don't share everything with everyone, you can't even share it.
The inn has 8 rooms like this and after passing the prayer hall, you come across another entrance door.
Immediately after entering this door, you will see a huge area. Today, this area is used as an exhibition hall. In general, carpets owned or protected by the General Directorate of Foundations of the Republic of Turkey, private collectors and institutions under the control of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism are exhibited.
There were a lot of carpets. There were very big ones and small ones too. Frankly speaking, I knew that it would be almost impossible for me to photograph them all, so I chose only the ones that appealed to my taste.
The silk of these carpets used to come from the Silk Road. Of course, that's why they are priceless. Imagine the collectors who own these carpets. What kind of financial situation do you have to have such carpets?
As we finished the exhibition and approached the first entrance to the caravanserai, I was very interested in the structure of the building. The design of the stones and decorations...
The lighting in the exhibition was great. It was not dark like most places. It was bright enough to see the designs of the carpets easily. The curator did a great job. I hope I will have the chance to come here again because I still hear the sounds as if they were weaving these carpets there. I can smell the odours of the root dyes used.
It was a great exhibition for me. I came to a point where I could easily explain the subject of inn-caravanserai, which was one of my exams during the tour, and I saw a unique silk carpet exhibition. I wonder if there is anything else I want to add, but I don't want to force it because there are so many things I can talk about in Eskişehir, our next stop. After all, I studied at university here for 4 years.

Giriş aynı Şifaiye, Gök Medrese ve Çifte Minareli Medrese gibi oldukça şatafatlı desem yeridir. İşlemeler çok güzel. Selçuklu Dönemi etkisi ise yine rahatlıkla görülebilmekte.
Çevredeki örneklerde görülenin aksine Sultan Hanı'nın ortasında bir adet Kubbeli Mescid bulunur.
Daha önce ben, o zamana kadar, bir kervansarayda ya da handa özellikle ibadet için yapılmış bir yer görmemiştim bırakın ortada olmasını. Tabii Sultan I. Alaaddin Keykubad tarafından 1229 yılında yaptırılan bu kervansarayın üzerinde İslamiyet izlerini görmemek şaşırtıcı olurdu. Her ne kadar İslamiyet'in verdiği görsel boşluk hâkim olsa da giriş olduça süslüydü bu da zaten önceki dönemden kalma bir özellik.

Bir de bazen han bazen de kervansaray dememin sebebi iki anlamın da birbirinden çok uzak olmaması. Elbette aralarında fark var fakat sürekli han kelimesini kullanmak yazı yazarken çok garip geliyor.
Size yukarıda odacıklardan bahsetmiştim. Bu odacıkların herbirinde de farklı eserler bulunuyordu. Aslında ilgisinin olmamasına rağmen nedense benim beynimde buraya yolda durup yemek yemek, dinlenmek ve uyumak için gelen misafirleri ırk ve statü olarak ayırdıklarını düşündürttü. Tabii bu durum aynı zamanda biraz özel kalabilmek için de olabilir. Sonuçta her şeyinizi herkesle paylaşmazsınız, hatta paylaşamazsınız da.
Hanın bu şekilde 8 odacığı bulunuyor ve ibadethaneyi geçtikten sonra karşınıza başka bir giriş kapısı çıkıyor.
Bu kapıdan girdikten hemen sonra karşınıza kocaman bir alan çıkıyor. Bu alan günümüzde bir sergi salonu olarak kullanılıyor. Genel olarak Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü, özel koleksiyoncular ve Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığı kontrolündeki kurumlar tarafından sahip olunan ya da korunan halılarla sergi yapılıyor.
Halılar çok fazlaydı. Çok büyükler ve küçükler de vardı. Açıkçası hepsinin fotoğrafını çekmemin neredeyse imkânsız olduğunu bildiğimden sadece zevkime hitap edenlere yöneldim.
Bu halıların ipekleri İpek Yolu'ndan gelirmiş. Tabii bu yüzden de paha biçilemeyexek kadar değerliler. Bir de bu halılara sahip olan koleksiyoncuları düşünsenize. Nasıl bir finansal duruma sahip olmalısınız ki bu tarz halılarınız olsun?
Sergiyi bitirip kervansaraya ilk girdiğimiz yere yaklaşırken binanın yapısı oldukça ilgimi çekti. Taşların dizaynı ve süslemeler...
Serginin ışıklandırması harikaydı. Çoğu yer gibi karanlık değildi. Halıların dizaynlarını rahatlıkla görebileceğimiz kadar aydınlıktı. Küratör harika bir iş çıkarmış. Umarım buraya bir daha gelme şansım olur çünkü hâlâ sanki bu halıları orada dokuyorlarmış gibi sesler duyuyorum. Burnuma kullanılan kök boyaların kokuları geliyor.
Benim için harika bir sergi oldu. Hem tur boyunca sınavlarımdan biri olan han-kervansaray konusunu rahatlıkla anlatabileceğim bir noktaya geldim hem de eşi benzeri olmayan bir ipek halı sergisi gördüm. Eklemek istediğim başka bir şey var mı diye düşünüyorum fakat bir sonraki durağımız olan Eskişehir'de konuşabileceğim çok fazla şey olduğu için zorlamak istemiyorum. Sonuçta burada 4 sene üniversite okudum.

Doktor babamın ameliyatından korktuğundan dolayı yapmadı. Şimdi başka bir hastane arıyoruz. 16'sında Cerrahpaşa'da ilk randevumuz var bakalım neler olacak ama çok riskli ve bu durumda hepimizi etkiliyor. Güzel dileklerin için teşekkür ederim.
