Last week on tuesday we finally landed in the land down under. Thanks to covid we haven´t been here since almost 3 years. Australia has and still is one of our absolute favorite countries. In the past 10 years we made so much memories and friends here and we´re so happy to finally be back.
After a few stressful days we finally had time to go out into nature and enjoy the beauty of this country. As you will see we got really lucky again, as always we it comes to wildlife. But first have a look at how we start our day here on the Sunshine Coast. That is how a typical day starts right now at the moment. Having breakfast with our local Lorikee Gang and watch the absolute perfect surf conditions. Unfortunately I can´t surf at the moment but that will change soon.
Mornings like these ones remind me why I love Australia so much. Having breakfast with colourful birds while watching world class waves isn´t all the country has to offer.
After breakfast we went to a place I´ve already been to a few times and its called Mary Cairncross Reserve. A 55-hectare reserve that consists of subtropical rainforest that is usually home further up north.
It felt so good to breath that fresh air and soak up all that amazing nature this rainforest has to offer. The air was amazing especially after thailand where air quality was very low recently.
We had such a busy first week here in Australia that we almost forgot what we are here for. That late morning in the forest gave us so much energy again. It was not only great to be in such a wonderful forest again we were also quite lucky regarding wildlife.
On that day we´ve seen two wild Wallabies that I only have videos off I can´t post in that blog as well as a big fat carpet python that just had a meal and therefore was too lazy to move. I mean how lucky can you be...you go out into nature for the first time and you see wild Wallabies and a snake. Only in Australia...
The forest consists of a roughly 2km walking track with a few lookouts and benches to sit down and enjoy the sound of the rainforest. Thats what we did, we sat down, closed our eyes and listened to the birds and trees.
Thailand is beautiful but can be very stressful sometimes and after we both had covid at the end of our stay we were so looking forward to exactly that moment. I can´t wait to visit places like this one regularly and especially to our trip up north in a few weeks. Before we´re able to see the real rainforest in the tropical north of queensland we have to be satisfied with this tiny oasis.
I really hope you like that post and that the photos can at least let you guess how beautiful it is here. The next 12 months will be all about Australias nature, wildlife, surf and lifestyle. We do have quite a few plans, not sure which ones will work and which don´t but it will definitely be a very good time here in Down Under.
you will find that post on pinmapple as well

I miss Australia too. I haven't been there since Jan 2020 cos of the mandates that are still in place in the US stopping me from transiting through. Hoping to get back this Christmas. 🤞
We left in August 2020 and would have never thought to be back that "quickly". Some days during covid I thought I will never come back. Hope you can make it this summer. Let me know when you´re here.
