Good morning fellow travelers! I am sharing with you a new adventure in one of the most important sites in Spain, it is the famous church of "Santiago de Compostela", a mythical and religious place full of stories and centuries of traditions, it is in this place where one of the longest trails on the planet ends, this pilgrimage has been taking place since the 9th century, imagine how many people have not completed this route yet? Buenos dias amigos viajeros! les comparto una nueva aventura en uno de los sitios mas importantes de Espana, se trata de la famosa iglesia de "Santiago de Compostela", un lugar mitico y religioso lleno de historias y siglos de tradiciones, es en este lugar donde culminan uno de los senderos mas largos del planeta esta peregrinacion viene haciendose desde el siglo IX imaginense cuantas personas ya no completaron esta ruta?, estas listo para mi aventura?🌍🚩🧭

We arrived in the city from the north of Portugal, Santiago de Compostela belongs to the region of Coruna which in turn is part of the community of Galicia, when parking the vehicle something that we did not see complicated and we feared because it is a highly touristic area, until that moment everything went well! We parked in the "Alameda de Santiago" square in front of a school, being the weekend it was empty and of course being winter this area does not have as much demand as in summer.🚩🌍
Llegamos a la ciudad desde el norte de Portugal, Santiago de Compostela pertenece a la region de Coruna que a su vez es de la comunidad de Galicia, al estacionar el vehiculo cosa que no vimos complicada y temiamos por ser una zona altamente turistica, hasta ese momento todo fue bien! aparcamos en la plaza "alameda de santiago" frente de una escuela al ser fin de semana estaba vacio y claro al ser invierno esta zona no tiene tanta demanda como en verano.📸🧑🏻🦯➡️
While I was researching what to see in Santiago de Compostela I realized that there are not many interesting things besides the famous basilica, so my whole family went with low expectations since it was a small area that we were going to visit, however we were happy because it didn't rain and that's asking a lot!🚩🚙
Mientras investigaba que cosas conocer en Santiago de Compostela comprendi que no hay muchas cosas interesantes ademas de la famosa basilica, por eso toda mi familia fue con expectativas no muy altas ya que era una pequena zona que visitariamos, sin embargo estabamos contentos porque no llovio y eso ya es mucho pedir!🌍
My first stop was at this beautiful church called: "igrexa de san fructuoso", the architecture on the outside is imposing, quite high with large concrete blocks, and upon entering it is a feeling of peace, spirituality, quite decorated and illuminated with golden colors typical of a Catholic church, this church dates back to the 17th century.🏛️🕍🚙
Mi primera parada fue en esta hermosa iglesia llamada: "igrexa de san fructuoso", la arquitectura por fuera es imponente, bastante alta con bloques grandes de hormigon, y al entrar es una sensacion de paz, de espiritualidad, bastante decorada e iluminada con colores dorados tipico de una iglesia catolica, esta iglesia data del siglo XVII⛺🗺️

Walking through the streets of Santiago de Compostela is like taking a trip back to medieval times. I saw a lot of Gothic and Baroque architecture of all kinds. The name of the city is believed to come from "cemetery" or "cementerio" (cemetery), which leads us to believe that where the great church was built there was once a cemetery, and in the Galician dialect Santiago de Compostela is translated as: (field of the star)🌍⭐
Caminar entre las calles de Santiago de Compostela es como hacer un viaje a la epoca medieval vi mucha arquitectura gotica, barroco de todo tipo, el nombre de la ciudad se cree que viene de "cementerio" osea esto nos conduce a que posiblemente donde esta la gran iglesia construida habia antes un cementerio, y en el dialecto gallego santiago de compostela es traducido a: (campo de la estrella)📸🌄
Next to the church we found this luxurious and large hotel called "hostal reis catolicos" I only leave it as a reference if you have the resources and want to stay in a fairly central and luxurious place, I think it makes a big impression on me and for me the only negative point of this area is that everyone wants to take photos in front of the church to the point that there is no space for you xD🚙🧭
Al lado de la iglesia conseguimos este lujoso y gran hotel llamado "hostal reis catolicos" solo lo dejo como referencia si tienes recursos y quieres quedarte en un lugar bastante centrico y lujoso, creo que me causa mucha impresion y para mi es el unico punto negativo de esta zona es que todos quieren tomarse fotos frente de la iglesia a tal punto que no hay espacio para ti xD🧑🏻🦯➡️🚩
The legend of Santiago🏛️📸/La leyenda de Santiago🌍🚩
It all revolves around the story that I will tell you below and that made Santiago de Compostela so famous. There is a legend where the mortal remains of the apostle of Jesus himself, Santiago the Greater, were brought to Galicia to be buried. When they were taken to that area, they were lost! Later, almost a thousand years later, there was a shepherd who saw a light (star) in the sky that guided him to where Santiago was buried.🧭🚙
Todo se centra en la historia que te narrare a continuacion y que hizo que Santiago de Compostela sea tan famosa, existe una leyenda donde los restos mortales del mismisimo apostol de Jesus Santiago el Mayor fueron traidos a Galicia para ser enterrados, cuando los llevaron a esa zona se perdieron! posteriormente casi mil anos despues habia un pastor que vio en el cielo una luz (estrella) la cual lo guio hasta donde estaba Santiago enterrado.🌍⛰️
After the pastor found the tomb, he went to notify the local bishop, who in turn immediately wrote to King Alfonso II, who ordered the construction of a great cathedral to honor the remains of Saint James the Apostle. This led to the belief that the remains were real, which was what happened later. In later years, several miracles attributed to the Christian religion occurred. The period of the Crusades against the Moors further reinforced the belief of the Church.🚩🧭
Luego que el pastor consigue la tumba fue a notificarle al ovispo de la zona, quien a su vez inmediatamente le escribio al rey Alfonso II y este mando a construir una gran catedral para honrar los restos de Santiago el apostol, lo que hizo que se creyera que los restos eran verdaderos fue lo que posteriormente sucedio, en anos posteriores ocurrieron varios milagros atribuidos a la religion cristiana, el periodo de la guerra de las cruzadas contra los Moros reforzo mas la creencia de la iglesia.🗺️🏛️

In previous posts I published routes that I did on the Camino de Santiago in Portugal, I never did it completely because that requires months of walking and I don't have that time but I have already walked more than 60km, so I wanted to buy something that symbolized that in my personal life, there are many souvenir shops on the main streets so it wouldn't be a problem, the city didn't seem expensive to me.🗺️🚩
Ya en post anteriores publique rutas que hice de Camino de Santiago en Portugal, nunca la hice completa porque eso requiere meses de caminatas y no dispongo de ese tiempo pero ya camine mas de 60km, por lo que queria comprar algo que simbolizara eso en mi vida personal, hay muchas tiendas de souvenirs en las calles principales por eso no seria un problema, no me parecio costosa la ciudad.⛰️🚙
These streets had already been occupied by the Romans in the 4th century, in fact it was a Roman cemetery that gave rise to the name! As another curious fact, the city was sacked and seriously damaged during the Napoleonic invasions, and I think that's great because it was the Spanish who allowed the French access to their lands.📸🌍
Estas calles ya en el siglo IV habian sido ocupadas por los Romanos, en realidad fue un cementerio Romano lo que origino el nombre! como otro dato curioso la ciudad fue saqueada y seriamente danada en las invaciones napoleonicas, y me parece muy bien porque fueron los espanoles que permitieron el acceso a los franceses por sus tierras.🚩🗺️

To finish our short walk in Santiago we decided to take a walk through the park which seemed very pretty to us because the fallen winter leaves decorate the paths, now we are going to eat here!
Ya para culminar nuestro corto paseo en Santiago decidimos dar un paseo por el parque que nos parecio bastante bonito porque las hojas caidas de invierno decoran las caminerias, ahora vamos a comer por aqui!

My wife and I were invited to eat at a restaurant called "jojoto" on the outskirts of downtown Vigo, I wasn't going to turn down the offer hehe! It's a place where they sell Venezuelan food, for four people it cost approximately 50 euros and I tried cachapa for the first time with my wife, wow what a delicious dish, it's made with corn and cream sauces along with cheese! We also ate empanadas that I had tried before.🌍⭐
Me invitaron a comer a mi esposa y a mi en un restaurante llamado "jojoto" en las afueras del centro de Vigo, no iba a rechazar la oferta jeje! es un local donde venden comida Venezolana, para cuatro personas se gasto aproximadamente 50 euros y probe por primera vez una cachapa junto con mi esposa, vaya que plato tan delicioso, es realizado con maiz y salsas de natas junto con queso! tambien comimos empanadas que ya las habia probado antes.📸🌄
