Road Trip 2023

in Worldmappin2 years ago

Hey all... I've been on a road trip for awhile and haven't been posting. Just taking a lot of pictures across the U.S. Starting in Philadelphia, I am currently in Eureka, California.
I left early in the morning mid-March and got this great shot of Philadelphia just waking up.

Prior to traveling too far, I stopped at the Wharton Esherick museum in Malvern, PA. Wharton Esherick (7/15/1887 ~ 5/6/1970) was a sculptor best known for his exotic woodwork.

His home serves as the museum and is a perfect expression of his artistic ability and outside-of-the-box way of thinking.

The home/museum is located on the Horseshoe Trail which is both equestrian and pedestrian. Starting in Valley Forge Memorial Park outside of Philadelphia, the Horseshoe Trail runs approximately northwest 80+ miles towards Harrisburg where it ends intersecting with the Appalachian Trail.

I hiked the Horseshoe Trail in its entirety in 2015. It took me 14 days to reach the Appalachian Trail. I then made a left and hiked the AT to Shanendoah National Park in Virginia. The entire hike took two months. Definitely one of the best life experiences so far and if ever given the opportunity I'd encourage anyone to spend time walking the AT.
