Hello everyone in the Pinmapple community! Today I bring you a special post that I have been saving for the last minute because this was one of my last places to visit during my trip to the United States. It means a lot to me. So today I bring you with great pride what my experience was visiting The Grand Canyon. I made this visit with my sister who was the person who accompanied me during all these adventures around the country. We went on a very Thelma&Louise-style road trip together (or at least that's how it felt to me hahaha without the tragic ending). Join me on this journey.

Located in northern Arizona, The Grand Canyon is a large and tall rock formation that was generated over the years due to the constant erosion of the water passage of the Colorado River. Thanks to that, today we have a peculiar-looking plateau with different entrances and exits (downs and ups), with several layers of land that show its age and that reaches an area of about 16 km of territory. Therefore, this great giant is impossible to go unnoticed.

For this trip my sister and I prepared in the following way. We filled the car with enough gasoline, we prepared food to have on the trip (sandwiches, snacks, water, chocolates, drinks, etc.), we left well dressed because it was winter and in Arizona it was much colder, we all arrived with documents, cash and cards, tool box (from the car), charging for phones and chargers, extra change of clothes, among other things. It is important to go well prepared because when crossing another state (from Nevada to Arizona in this case) and on a medium-long trip like this one, one must be ready for anything. This territory is also home to the native Hualapai Indians. The park is divided into three large tourist areas: The Hualapai Reserve, Guano Point and Skywalk (overlooking Eagle Point, a rock formation shaped like an eagle).

We left Nevada around 9 am. A little late because traffic caught us and we lost some time buying some things. However, we arrived in Arizona in good time. Around midday. We noticed right away that it had snowed because the road was full of snow and the entire plateau was too. I don't know if the photographs do it justice but it was a beautiful image. Before arriving at the reserve, which is where you have to park to buy tickets to access the park, we got off so I could get to know the snow. It was very nice and I know it may not be that surprising to others but I was very happy.

Now, inside the reserve (it has another name but I don't remember what) which is a kind of giant tent, you must go to the stand where you can buy the tickets. There are different packages and the truth is the prices are very high so here is a tip that comes from a lesson I learned from this trip. My sister and I bought the ticket to access the Skywalk (about $60 per person) because we had the illusion of seeing the Grand Canyon from that glass platform, however (and here is the advice) it is not really worth it because we would see what Same as in any other area of the park. Additionally, you cannot enter the glass hallway with your phone and will have to choose to pay a photographer to record the moment. The photography package of 8 photos costs about $50, but you can also buy a single photo for $25. Clearly everyone will go for the first option.

And here continues my advice. We also paid for the Skywalk because we believed that we could not access anywhere else when in reality, upon asking other tourists, they told us that we could go to Guano Point without paying anything. Simply buy the basic tickets and we could get to the Guano point, where you can walk (walk) through that entire sector and get a better view. Now that you know, it is good to take it into account because we enjoy being in Guano much more than in the Skywalk. In any case, to go anywhere you must wait for a single bus, which is the one that transports all the tourists.

This is how, after several setbacks, my sister and I were finally able to enjoy all the beauty of the Grand Canyon. It was about 3 pm and we were there for an hour and a half. I think it was worth it because one begins to feel the true dimension of this great giant. It was very nice to be able to sit and see all the immensity, with that cold that froze us but did not stop us in our contemplation. I think it's very difficult to describe the feeling but it's a little close to that feeling you get when you fight hard for something and you get it. A celebration for both of them, two young girls who never thought they would see a place like that. Of course, when the sun began to set it was time to leave and the road trip, with that beautiful sunset of colors, Arizona said goodbye to us. I leave you with the photographs and without further ado, thank you very much for stopping by.
