I recently came back from my first trip to Mexico. In part to explore a new place on vacation, but also to blend my Canadian and American family with our new Mexican family. All in all, it was a stunning trip, and it would be my honour to give you a tour.
First of all, the cuisine was amazing. The food on the resort was good, however in meeting my new family who are local, we got to visit restaurants that we would never have seen otherwise.
There were a lot of sweet spots, like this place photographed by my girlfriend and my sister in law, when they and others in the group stopped for tapas.
The beaches were gorgeous and the coast line was beautiful. This was photographed on our final excursion to experience Rhythms of the Night, a fantastic dinner and show experience.
When our boat arrived from Puerta Vallarta to Las Caletas, we took a nice scenic stroll through nature and saw some stunning sights.
Our first stop was a wonderful outdoor dining experience. The ambiance and vibe were fantastic!
Did I mention the dinner was buffet style? All the cuisine was delicious, and you got to sample so many options, served from this really nicely decorated structure just off the path.
After dinner was the show. It was an experience, I'll tell you that. Imagine a Cirque du Soleil, put on by an enthusiastic cast of locals, creating an experience which was a fun way to show off their beautiful culture.
My family has been expanding, now blending Canadian, American and Mexican families. This cross-border family has made visits hard, and getting the more extended families to meet even harder. This trip such a teasure, with people flying in from Canada and America to all meet up. For many of us, it was either our first times meeting, or the first time in a long time.
I am truly honoured to have gotten to explore Puerta Vallarta, experience so many things, and meet so many wonderful people. My only regrets were that the trip wasn't longer, and that I hadn't kept up with my duolingo!
I want to shoutout all the fantastic restaurants big and small (Porfirios in particular comes to mind. Wonderful tuna steak!), the waiters and waitresses that put up with my mediocre Spanish, and especially ALMA, by Rhythms of the Night. That was truly a magical evening that I will not soon forget.
