Hello everyone! It's me again, Thata. I want to share my recent visit to the Simala Shrine in Lindogon, Sibonga, Cebu last Tuesday. It's the most visited religious place in Cebu.
We went there because my future sister-in-law (hopefully soon) made a panata that, after her job contract renewal, she would visit the Simala Shrine to give thank. Because it was her first visit to Cebu, and my brother had never been to the Simala Shrine before, we accompanied them.
The total travel time from Lapu-Lapu City to Simala was more than four hours. We took a tricycle from our rented house to the pier, then a ferry boat to the city, then a jeep to the V-hire terminal, and finally, a V-hire
We arrived at Simala at 10:00 o’clock. It was a fast visit because there weren't many people there today, unlike on weekends or special occasions, which are usually very crowded.
Our visit started with a prayer within the Shrine. We joined others in the traditional act of kissing the Virgin Mary's statue. We take time to read the heartfelt letters and prayers left by devotees; these letters express gratitude and show how faith has changed their lives.
Before we leave, we go to a vendor selling candles and souvenirs. We buy candles to light. On my last visit, each candle color held a significant meaning, but this time they weren't there. I didn't ask why, but it didn't bother me; the purity of one's heart and true purpose in lighting a candle are what truly matter. Before lighting them, we have them blessed, along with the bracelets we purchased.

The location itself also contributes, I'm not saying people come here just for pictures, but it does add a touch of serenity and helps create memories after visiting the Virgin Mary.

Simala Shrine is a great place to visit, I've been there 2 years ago. Many people went there to pray for their wish to come true. I hope I can visit there again.
