It's my first time posting here, so I don't know how to start. The only thing I know is that I had a great experience and I want to share it here, although talking about travel is not my thing, I think that discovering new things is very enriching; and so is sharing them. I hope you like this little post as much as I do, especially the pictures I took with so much enthusiasm.
I would like to show you some pictures I took before leaving; the sky was already promising that, for a change, it would be sunny. It was 9 am at that time.
And so we were on our way to San Tome, Anzoategui, Venezuela; it is about 40 minutes from my house. San Tome is rather a small town, so it took me by surprise when I was on my way to the park, and these were the photos I was able to capture.

Despite that, something I like about San Tome is that its streets and the design of the houses seems cozy, small, like a community where everyone knows each other and lives peacefully. But there is something that I love even more about San Tome: the great amount of mango trees that there are, in some occasions we have gone to pick them from the public trees, hehehe.
I had a mixture of surprise and fascination when we entered the somewhat desolate dirt road, I even wondered what would be beyond. But the fascination came when, in front of that pile of wild vegetation that reminded me a bit of a jungle, was the Rio Alegre recreational park, our destination.
Upon entering, the first view that greets you is that of a small square with a beautiful fountain and benches around, the only thing I did not like was that at no time they lit the fountain, I would have liked to appreciate it, but still, the structure was nice.
In addition, my gaze was quickly distracted from the fountain to admire the rose bushes that adorned this square, pausing a bit to enjoy the scent of my favorite flower, how beautiful it is.
The last thing that captivated me in this little square, was a well they have to decorate, it was the first time in my life that I saw one, and I did not hesitate to take a couple of pictures. I was fascinated just entering; I am a curious person, what can I say.
Then I discovered that this pretty little square leads to a restaurant. We did not enter this restaurant, because we had already brought our own food for lunch after a dip in the pool. But a family member wanted to have coffee and although they normally did not sell it, the restaurant offered to prepare it for her, of course she had to pay for it anyway, haha, but I thought it was a nice service; in general, the employees of the place were quite nice and helpful when you needed something.
On the other hand, let's talk about the main attraction of this recreational park: the pools.
In total, they have 5 pools. And I will tell you in order of importance, according to me.
The one that I consider the main attraction is the largest pool, and it has two slides, one is higher than the other. There was a third slide, but it is no longer in operation.
The only point that I can consider negative about this pool is that it is too deep. To give you an idea, I am 1.60 m tall and the water was higher than my neck. So if you are under 1.70 m or if you can't swim, it is not advisable to go in. However, my short stature didn't stop me from going up the slides, and it was my first time doing something like that. Swallowing water a couple of times being in a deep pool was worth it because at least now I have a nice priceless experience.
The second most interesting pool would be the children's pool. It is a pool with a very low water level, which is very convenient for children to have fun without worries. In addition, it has several small slides for them to play, but the most striking feature of this pool was the giant water bucket. It is a huge bucket of water that is at a high point, and gradually fills with water. When it is full, the inclination makes it pour all the water into the pool like a giant waterfall.
I must admit that I entered the children's pool a couple of times just to wait for all the water to fall on me, it's a fun that even I can't understand, hahaha.
The third pool is one whose water level is not so high and not so low, it was perfect for me because the water was just up to my shoulders. What I liked most about this pool was the mushroom waterfall, I was under it for a few minutes, to relax and meditate. It was very calming.
The negative point about this pool is that its water was especially cold compared to the others, which were cold, but on a smaller scale. I think it could be due to the fact that this pool was not directly exposed to the sun's rays, as it was under some palm trees.
Speaking of temperatures, the fourth pool is jacuzzi style, it even has a sort of structure so you can sit inside the pool.
This was one of my favorites, because the sun was hitting it directly and that caused the water to be warmer. I think the only negative point is that it is very small in terms of area, so when other people came in I already felt a little uncomfortable because there wasn't enough room to be away. In general, I don't like to be too close to people, but those are personal quirks for which the pool is not to blame.
Finally, the fifth pool was called the “pool bar”, which had a low water level, but not as low as the children's pool. Its particularity is that it has a kind of benches inside the pool to sit in front of a construction that seemed to function as a bar. However, this bar is no longer in operation either, so this pool is the most forgotten of all; I did not see anyone using it that day.
Well, we've had our dip in the pools, and now we have to eat. Speaking of eating, in this recreational park there are also grills, and even that day there were people using them. I found it very practical because if you wanted to eat grill, you wouldn't have to bring an electric one or even worse, a metal one, which would be quite complicated.
On the other hand, besides the pools, there are other forms of entertainment, there are several courts.
One for playing “bolas criollas”, one for indoor soccer and one for volleyball, which is a typical summer and beach sport. In fact, something I liked about the volleyball courts, is that they have fine white beach sand, the only bad thing is how hot it was because of the sun, but it is something that in the euphoria of the game you do not notice.
The only detail is that to play you have to bring your own balls, just like for the bolas criollas, which is a typical sport in our Venezuela. What I don't understand is who would carry the balls around with how heavy they are? Hahaha, it's not like on a pool day you are going to think about carrying them.
And that would be it, the place is really great, the most interesting thing was to see some iguanas walking around and eating plants, they are really cute animals, just don't get too close to them. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures of the iguanas, as they are pretty fast to run, hehe.
One important little thing I would remind anyone wanting to go to this park, or any park, is to remember to wear sunscreen. I thought it wasn't necessary to use as much as at the beach, and then when I got home I was not only tanned, but also sunburned. But come on, I liked the tan, even if it was subtle.
Another important detail is the hours. This park opens at 11 am and closes at 5 pm, which seemed a bit early to me, but given the location of the site, I don't think anyone would want to stay until dusk either. It is also at 12 pm that they turn on the slides and music. These are little details that I mention in case anyone reading this lives nearby and wants to go, hehehe. In fact, the entrance is very affordable and the day we went, we received a 2 for 1 promotion.
Finally, I can only say that it was a very pleasant experience, it is very different from other pools I've been to. I feel that the space was quite “varied”, you could say; also, the place was quite clean, as they remind people of their responsibility to pick up their trash.
The only thing I didn't enjoy that day was how cold it was. Although the sun was very strong, so was the wind, I imagine because of the location of the place. The pools, as I also mentioned, were quite cold. It is not something that can be avoided, as they are environmental issues, but it was quite annoying to be cold to the point of shivering, even if you were inside the water. Perhaps, it would be a good option to visit on the hottest day you can find, although in Venezuela these days abound.
However, the most important thing of all was to have had the opportunity to share such a beautiful experience as a family. My favorite moment of the visit was, ironically, when it was time to leave. At 5 pm, they play llanera music, which is known in our country to be used to send people away from meetings. However, watching the prelude to a sunset, feeling the weather, looking around me at the savannah, while listening to that music, reminded me of something very nice: it reminded me of the beauty of the country where I live. I found it very inspiring, and once again it is a reminder to enjoy the little things in life.
This park certainly provides a nice family experience that is worth knowing. I hope to come back soon.

Holiii, amigos de la comunidad de Worldmappin, ¿cómo se encuentran el día de hoy?, ¡espero que muy bien!
Es mi primera vez publicando acá, así que no sé como empezar. Lo único que sé, es que tuve una grata experiencia y quiero compartirla acá, aunque hablar de viajes no sea lo mío, pienso que descubrir cosas nuevas es muy enriquecedor; y compartirlas también lo es. Espero que a ustedes les guste este pequeño post tanto como a mí, en especial las fotos que tomé con tanta ilusión.
Me gustaría mostrarles algunas fotos que tomé antes de salir; el cielo ya prometía que, para variar, estaría soleado. Eran las 9 am en ese momento.
Y así emprendimos camino rumbo a San Tomé, Anzoátegui, Venezuela; queda aproximadamente a 40 minutos de mi casa. San Tomé es más bien una ciudad pequeña, así que me tomó por sorpresa cuando estaba yendo de camino al parque y estas fueron las fotos que pude capturar.

A pesar de eso, algo que me gusta de San tomé es que sus calles y el diseño de las casas me parece acogedor, pequeño, como una comunidad donde todos se conocen y viven tranquilamente. Pero hay algo que amo aún más de san tome: la gran cantidad de árboles de mango que hay, en algunas ocasiones hemos ido a recoger de los árboles públicos, jijiji.
Tuve una mezcla de sorpresa y fascinación cuando entramos a la carretera de tierra un tanto desolada, incluso me preguntaba que habría más allá. Pero la fascinación vino cuando, frente a ese montón de vegetación salvaje que me recordó un poco a una selva, estaba el parque recreacional Río Alegre, nuestro destino.
Al entrar, la primera vista que te recibe es la de una pequeña placita con una hermosa fuente y bancas alrededor, lo único que no me gustó fue que en ningún momento encendieran la fuente, me hubiera gustado poder apreciarla, pero aun así, la estructura era linda.
Además, rápidamente mi mirada se distrajo de la fuente para admirar los rosales que adornaban esta plaza, deteniéndome un poco a disfrutar el aroma de mi flor favorita, qué bonito es.
Lo último que me cautivó de esta pequeña placita, fue un pozo que tienen para decorar, era la primera vez en mi vida que veía uno, y no dudé en tomar un par de fotos. Estaba fascinada tan solo entrar; soy una persona curiosa, qué te puedo decir.
Luego descubrí que esa pequeña plaza tan bonita le da entrada a un restaurante. No entramos a este restaurante, porque ya traíamos nuestra propia comida para almorzar después de un chapuzón en la piscina. Pero una familiar quería tomar café y aunque normalmente no vendían, en el restaurante ofrecieron a preparárselo, claro que tenía que pagarlo igual, jaja, pero me pareció un servicio agradable; en general, los empleados del lugar eran bastante agradables y serviciales cuando uno necesitaba algo.
Por otra parte, hablemos de la atracción principal de este parque recreacional: Las piscinas.
En total, cuentan con 5 piscinas. Y les contaré en orden de importancia, según yo.
La que considero yo el principal atractivo es la piscina más grande, y cuenta con dos toboganes, uno es más alto que el otro. Había un tercer tobogán, pero ya no está en funcionamiento.
El único punto que yo puedo considerar negativo de esta piscina, es que es demasiado honda. Para que se den una idea, yo mido 1.60 m de altura y el agua me llegaba más arriba del cuello. Así que si miden menos de 1.70 o no saben nadar, no es recomendable entrar. Sin embargo, mi baja estatura no impidió que subiera a los toboganes, y fue la primera vez que hacía algo como eso. Tragar agua un par de veces al estar en una piscina profunda, valió la pena porque al menos ahora cuento con una linda experiencia invaluable.
La segunda piscina más interesante, sería la de los niños. Es una piscina con un nivel de agua muy muy bajo, lo cual es muy conveniente para que los niños se diviertan sin preocupaciones. Además, cuenta con varios toboganes pequeños para que jueguen, pero lo más llamativo de esta piscina, fue el balde de agua gigante. Es un balde de agua enorme que está en un punto alto, y se va llenando de agua poco a poco. Cuando ya está lleno, la inclinación hace que se vierta toda el agua dentro de la piscina como una cascada gigante.
Debo admitir que entré un par de veces a la piscina de los niños solamente para esperar a que me cayera toda el agua encima, es una diversión que ni yo misma puedo entender, jajaja.
La tercera piscina es una cuyo nivel de agua no es tan alto ni tan bajo, era perfecta para mí porque el agua me llegaba justo a los hombros. Lo que más me gustó de esta piscina fue la cascada con forma de hongo, estuve bajo ella unos minutos, para relajarme y meditar. Fue muy tranquilizante.
El punto negativo de esta piscina es que su agua estaba especialmente fría en comparación a las otras, que estaban frías, pero en menor escala. Creo que podía deberse a que a esta piscina no le daban los rayos del sol directamente, al estar debajo de unas palmeras.
Hablando de temperaturas, la cuarta piscina es estilo jacuzzi, incluso tiene una especie de estructura para poder sentarte dentro de la piscina.
Esta fue una de mis favoritas, porque el sol le daba directamente y eso provocaba que el agua estuviera más caliente. Creo que el único punto negativo es que es muy pequeña en cuanto a área, así que cuando entraron otras personas ya me sentía un poco incómoda porque no había suficiente espacio para estar alejada. En general, no me gusta estar muy cerca de personas, pero esas son mañas personales de la que la piscina no tiene la culpa.
Por último, la quinta era llamada “piscina bar”, la cual tenía un nivel de agua bajo, pero no tanto como la de los niños. Su particularidad es que cuenta con una especie de bancas adentro de la piscina para sentarse frente a una construcción que parecía funcionar como bar. Sin embargo, este bar ya no se encuentra en funcionamiento tampoco, así que esta piscina es la más olvidada de todas; no vi a nadie usarla ese día.
Bueno, ya nos dimos nuestro chapuzón por las piscinas, y ahora hay que comer. Hablando de comer, en este parque recreacional también hay parrilleras, e incluso ese día había personas usándola. Me pareció muy práctico porque si quisieras comer parrilla, no tendrías que traer una eléctrica o peor aún, una de metal, cosa que resultaría bastante complicada.
Por otro lado, además de las piscinas, hay otras formas de entretenimiento, hay varias canchas.
Una para jugar bolas criollas, una para futbol sala y otra para voleibol, que es un deporte típico del verano y las playas. De hecho, algo que me gustó de las canchas de voleibol, es que tienen arena de playa, blanca y fina, lo único malo es lo caliente que estaba por el sol, pero es algo que en la euforia del juego no notas.
El único detalle es que para jugar tienes que traer tus propias pelotas, igual que para las bolas criollas, que es un deporte típico de nuestra Venezuela. Lo que no entiendo es ¿quién andaría cargando con bolas criollas con lo pesadas que son? jajaja, no es como que en un día de piscina vas a pensar en llevarlas.
Y eso sería todo, el lugar es realmente grande, lo más interesante fue ver algunas iguanas caminando por ahí y comiendo plantas, son animales muy bonitos, solo no se les acerquen mucho. Lamentablemente, no tengo fotos de las iguanas, ya que son bastante rápidas para correr, jiji.
Una cosita importante que le recordaría a alguien que quiere ir a este parque, o cualquiera, es que recuerden llevar protector solar. Yo pensaba que no era necesario usar tanto como en la playa, y luego al llegar a mi casa no solo estaba bronceada, sino también insolada. Pero vamos, el bronceado me gustó, aunque fuera sutil.
Otro detalle importante son los horarios. Este parque abre a las 11 y cierra a las 5 pm, lo cual me pareció algo temprano, pero dado a la ubicación del sitio, tampoco creo que alguien quiera quedarse hasta el anochecer. También es a las 12 pm que encienden los toboganes y la música. Estos son detallitos que menciono en caso de que alguien que me lea viva cerca y se quiera animar a ir, jijiji. De hecho, la entrada es muy asequible y el día en que fuimos, recibimos una promoción de 2x1.
Finalmente, solo puedo decir que fue una experiencia muy grata, se diferencia mucho de otras piscinas a las que he ido. Siento que el espacio era bastante “variado”, podría decirse; además, estaba bastante limpio el lugar, ya que les recuerdan a las personas su responsabilidad de recoger sus deshechos.
De las únicas cosas que no me disfruté ese día, fue el frío tan fuerte que hacía. Aunque había un sol muy fuerte, el viento también lo era, me imagino que por la ubicación del lugar. Las piscinas, como también mencioné, estaban bastante frías. No es algo que se pueda evitar, ya que son cuestiones ambientales, pero era bastante molesto tener frío al punto de temblar, aunque estuvieras dentro del agua. Quizá, sería una buena opción para visitar en el día más caluroso que encuentres, aunque en Venezuela estos días abunden.
Sin embargo, lo más importante de todo fue haber tenido la oportunidad de compartir una experiencia tan bonita en familia. Mi momento favorito de la visita fue, irónicamente, cuando ya era la hora de irnos. A las 5 pm, ponen música llanera, que es sabido en nuestro país que la suelen usar para despedir personas de las reuniones. Sin embargo, mirar la antesala a un atardecer, sentir el clima, mirar a mi alrededor la sabana, mientras escuchaba esa música, me recordó algo muy lindo: me recordó la belleza del país en el que vivo. Me resultó algo muy inspirador, y una vez más es el recordatorio de disfrutar las pequeñas cosas de la vida.
Este parque desde luego brinda una bonita experiencia en familia que vale la pena conocer. Espero volver pronto.
