I rarely go to fancy restaurants and I definitely get lost looking at the menu, having no clue what to order. 🤣 I've always been rigid with food choices and stick to the familiar as I don't want to regret paying for something I wouldn't like. I usually depend on someone else's suggestions. I can be a really annoying person to be with when exploring food. oops.
Recently, I'm surrounded by people who are adventurous foodies. If there's a new restaurant and social media is hyping it, we would definitely be intrigued and set up a date to visit the place. As a thrifty person who is constantly sabotaging myself that I don't deserve it, I am slowly granting myself permission to enjoy certain experiences without feeling guilty.😅
Here are two restaurants that are pretty known in Cebu for serving delectable dishes.
TALES AND FEELINGS
LOCATION AND AMBIANCE
The place is pretty much located on a busy street in Cebu and there was no proper parking space. We had to park beside the street. The restaurant is located on the second floor of an old commercial building and is kind of hard to find. It is a small place and can fit less than 15 people. I liked how they decorated the walls with paintings, they also have a small bar and a kitchen window where you can see the chefs preparing the food. There wasn't much view other than the electric wires, buildings, and traffic. 😅
SERVICE
I have no complaints regarding their service. They were accommodating and made sure we got what we needed. I also didn't have any problems requesting a dessert with a Happy Birthday note on it.
FOOD
Appetizers:
Marinated Gensan Tuna
Price: 329php or 6 USD
Comment: You might want to try this. The tuna was fresh and flavorful.
Korean Fried Cauliflower
Price: 249php or 4.54 USD
Comment: I liked this one too. It's like those flavored chicken wings and you definitely wouldn't think it's cauliflower. This is something worth experimenting with at home.
Main Course
Miso Braised Pork
Price: 399php or 7.27 USD
Comment: As a Filipino and a lover of pork fat/belly🤣, this dish wasn't that bad especially when eaten together with the bokchoy, squash, or mashed potato. But my partner who is a foreigner and knows how to cook, wasn't that impressed.
A5 Wagyu Ribeye 100g
Price: 3,400php or 61.98 USD
Comment: As I said earlier, I don't want to regret spending on something I wouldn't like. Unfortunately, I wasted money on this dish 🤣 Charge to experience lol. All the oil/sauce and herbs ruined the wagyu. ☹️ I didn't expect they would serve it like this. So feel free to skip.
Truffle Pasta
Price: 699php or 12.74php
Comment: This was one of the waiter's recommended dishes. It was good and you can really taste the truffle. This was a pretty safe food to order.
Dessert
Chocolate Mousse
Comment: I honestly forgot if I was charged for this dessert or if this was complimentary 🤣 Who doesn't love chocolate mousse right?

BELL + AMADEUS
LOCATION AND AMBIANCE
Their location is accessible in the city and in a commercial building with safe pay parking spaces. They have indoor and outdoor dining. The restaurant was spacious inside, they also have a bar and the place looks cozy.
SERVICE
We weren't able to reserve a table since it was a spontaneous idea to dine there. They told us they were fully booked for the night but it was still late afternoon and we were lucky to be offered a table outside. If you plan to visit, just make that reservation.
The food took a while to be served but it was worth it. Just look at the food presentation!
The waitress was prompt and accommodating.

Starters
Tuna Tartare with Squid Ink Tapioca Cracker
Price: 390php or 7.11 USD
Comment: I love it! It was saucy but doesn't lose the taste of the tuna and goes well with the cracker (which didn't really have a taste). This is a must try!
Pan Seared Scallops with Lime Miso Dressing, Citrus Couscous on Avocado Puree
Price: 590 php or 10.76 USD
Comment: This is so good but just enough for one person. We just shared this and had one scallop each and it definitely left me wanting for more!
Main Course
Back Ribs, Corn Puree, Raspberry Gel, Greenpeas puree and Barbecue Sauce
Price: 750php or 13.67 USD
Comment: Super tender, juicy, and flavorful! But I guess you can also skip this and try something unique. Unless you are craving something smoky and sweet.
Wagyu Cubes with Japanese Fried Rice and Nori Butter
Price: 720php or 13.13 USD
Comment: I wasn't able to try as this was not my order but he said it wasn't bad at all. I might order this on my next visit!
Cured Smoked Salmon and Egg with Mixed Greens in Elderflower Vinaigrette
Price: 490 php or 8.93 USD
Comment: For a healthier and balanced meal.🤣 We had a salad to pair with the back ribs instead of carbs. This was good for two.
Dessert
Chocolate Lava with Pesto Ice Cream and Poached Pears in Red Wine Sauce
Price: 400php or 7.29 USD
Comment: I only tried pesto on pasta but I didn't expect it would also taste good in ice cream! The lava cake was moist and just the right sweetness.
Ylang-Ylang Creme Brulee, Ube Moss, Jackfruit Gel, Black Sesame Ice cream
Price: 340php or 6.20 USD
Comment: I didn't really like the Ube cake/chiffon because it wasn't soft enough and a little dry. Nevertheless, loved this too! We are such a fan of Creme Brulee and I liked mixing it with the jackfruit gel.
