Crazy House: Unique house in Da Lat

in Worldmappin3 years ago

In addition to becoming a tourist attraction, it has now expanded to include an art gallery, allowing the house's message to reach a wider audience. It is well-known both in Vietnam and overseas, and is well worth a visit in the misty city of Da Lat. It intrigued me with its strange structure and subtle hidden messages.

A friend recommended me on the last day of my seven-day Dalat visit there. Its term "Crazy House" struck an impression on me since there is a part of the expression that conveys a different personality than what is prevalent. It's also not far from my friend's house.

1: A brief description of the property

  • It was started construction in 1990 by architect Dang Viet Nga . When she moved to Da Lat, she graduated from Moscow Architecture University and built it. Because her objective is to always produce and add new messages through her work, it is still a work in progress today.

GOPR3029.jpg

  • Other names for Crazy House are Hang Nga Villa, Crazy House, Spider Web Castle, and Strange House. Perhaps it stems from how they felt when looking up and strolling through it.

GOPR3061.jpg

GOPR2956.jpg

  • One-of-a-kind architectural style, devoid of any architectural principles and entirely improvised, much like the free and open attitude. It's still made of bricks and concrete, and it's as raw as nature itself. The project's message is to bring people closer to nature.

  • It is currently housed at Huynh Thuc Khang Street in Da Lat. It covers an area of around 2,000 square meters. You'll be greeted by a gate with unusual roots and a concrete deer head.

  • You can visit or reside depending on the government's changes to the legislation of residence in response to the CoVid outbreak. The cost of an adult admission ticket is 60000 VND (2 USD). I was only there for sightseeing on March 1, 2022, and I couldn't remain since the rooms were locked.

2; My trip

  • My trip partner (not my Da Lat friend) @trangbaby and I went at midday because I believe that is when there are the fewest people and the sun shines the brightest. to take pictures of it When I enter the tiny outside premises among the green trees, the midday heat will be greatly reduced. The unusual shapes will attract your attention right away, and expressing the same sentiments as me will be challenging

GOPR2968.jpg

GOPR2965.jpg

GOPR2963.jpg

  • It's strange but interesting, I think, and it makes me want to investigate the nooks and crannies; my footsteps slow down in every detail, and my eyes stay longer. Everything is constructed of concrete and reinforcement, and it is molded and painted flat with no lines or shapes.

A charming modest coffee shop, a tree-shaped stairway, or a rest table built like a clump of natural mushrooms surrounded by natural flora all inspire a sense of intimacy.

Through a little barred side door, the lodging rooms still have a look inside. An art room with full modern amenities and clean for a day stay here. I wish I could see it at night with the lights on.

  • Are there any symbolic meanings in the shapes of wood blocks sawed to build houses, tables, and seats between humans and nature? Yes, in my opinion.

GOPR2971.jpg

GOPR2959.jpg

GOPR2957.jpg

More like a journey into the land of fairy tales than a horror film, because the works appear on the inside to be more fancy and closer to lifelike imagery such as tree roots, animals, jelly emulsion, bamboo tube, etc.

The harsh, rough color appears a little threatening from afar and from the outside. Do the windows resemble dried bones or eye sockets?

GOPR2993.jpg

The uneven climbing and descending passageways leading to different sections and rooms twist and turn in unanticipated ways, as if inviting me to continue to satisfy my curiosity by taking unexpected turns or twists. I've also heard of people walking around in circles for a long time, much like becoming lost in a maze if they don't recognize the signs.

There is a room within, near the ground, where the owner's ancestors are worshipped. It was the Communist Party of Vietnam's general secretary. But the daughter was likewise ornamented, both respectable and breaking the path.

The chambers are designed to resemble an aquarium, with vibrant undersea life and relaxing blue tones. No matter what position you stand from, top down, bottom up, or plunge into a scene in it, the drawings are on the wall, ceiling, and floor.

Foreign and domestic newspapers complimenting the house's beauty and interest are maintained in part in a chamber for visitors to enjoy and consult. A creation of riches and energy, showcasing a female architect's talent and bravery.

A labyrinth with many various zones connected by crisscrossed root staircases seemed to be a problem to me, as I was unable to cleanly go around all of the spots. Because I was entirely absorbed in what my eyes discovered and was completely led by it at random. Allow the images to speak for themselves.

GOPR3098.jpg

A coffee shop next to an oddly constructed stretch, designed to meet the demands of visitors.

It has numerous subtle signals between people and people and nature. In comparison to words, architecture's language has a different influence; its impact is sharper and more powerful. It was also planned by the owner as a walk in the woods, both exciting and a little frightening, because he was bored of mounting stairs. Exceptionally pleasant to the eye and the mind.

The house looks like in fairytale. I really looking forward to visit Vietnam next winter and this place will be in my wishlist 😍

Yes, that would be a good choice, and find out the good weather as well.
Thanks for visiting

For sure, thank you!

A great concept, I've seen a lot of ingenious house, but what I've seen here on the blog today is in the top five most ingenious houses I've seen.

That architect must have been very happy with that compliment. Thank you

That is a super crazy house. It looks like a house created in someone's dream - or maybe nightmare... lol

Is it possible
And from there the idea flowed

The featured house looks like a creation from a fantasy book. The architectural details are mind-boggling and are exquisite in their own artistic way. Indeed, an amazing tourist attraction @crazy-bee.

Yes they did a great job. Interesting that it is still continued and added.
The journey is their destination

Wow this place seems so trippy!
Must be a good experience visiting 🙂

Well I don't shoot them all, visiting in person will have the best experience.
Thank you

oh wow! this looks eccentrically amazing! 😁 it's surprising how the place looks spacious enough to have a lot of crannies to explore yet the surrounding 'normal' homes and overall area look cramp 😄 thank you for sharing your wonderful trip here!

Yes, they are very smart to take advantage of every small and overlapping area. But it is in harmony with the natural greenery. It's really interesting

That really is a crazy house!!!! Great find

I believe that was the inspiration for the owner of the house to name it. Every time someone walks in and exclaims.
