A Short Walk Down to Bear Creek Falls

Bear Creek falls is a short hike located on the Eastern side of Glacier National Park in British Columbia, Canada. We were on our way back from a road trip and needed a break to stretch our legs, this was the perfect opportunity.

The hike starts just off the Trans Canada Highway, 'The Only Road in Canada." There's a washroom and a small parking lot. Calling it a hike is a bit of a stretch, it's just over a kilometer there and back, down 45 meters into a ravine.

Hiking in the late Spring is always the best time if you want to see waterfalls. The smaller streams from melt water often disappear under the rocks. We were lucky enough the trail was not too muddy.

The greenery is so vibrant when light manages to spill through the forest canopy. Ferns fight for every inch of sunlight.

The path is well maintained, this is a national park and easy waterfall hikes are always a crowd favourite. We passed a few people on the way up and down.

These small mountain streams or creeks are torrents in the Spring. Water cascades down from the peaks surrounding Roger's Pass.

The views are remarkable on a clear day, the stream provides an opening despite this hike being down in the valley, or pass.

The falls are not that impressive but nonetheless it's worth a 600 meter walk down hill. The mist would be refreshing on a hot day.

As one approaches the falls, the rocks get slippery. Falling in would ruin ones day, this creek comes from melting ice and who knows how deep it is, the water is violent.

We stopped for a few moments to admire the nature, we were on our way back home from a weekend getaway and had spent dozens of hours hiking and enjoying the outdoors.

It was time to walk back up from the ravine and continue on our journey. We love spending weekends in British Columbia and are always looking for someplace new to experience.

You can hike there and back in less than 30 minutes but need a National Park pass if you are using the trails. Thank you for reading and have a good one.

Thank you kindly, I'm glad you enjoyed!

A 30-minute hike would suit me just fine, and through such a beautiful park as well!
One can see the force of the water down that waterfall. Your photos are stunning.
The pathways immediately caught my eyes, they're very well maintained indeed.
