Self described as "The Most Enchanting Place on Earth" this is Hunte's Gardens.
The website claims:
no photo can give justice to this fine place - as the best way is to experience it personally is by visiting!
So I will let you be the judge as these photos were taken with a real camera.
To enter these gardens there is a twenty dollar fee per person. It is on the other side of the island from the beaches so add that to a hundred dollar return taxi ride. There is not a whole lot to do in here asides from hang out at the Beaches of Barbados. So we decided to explore a tropical garden.
This place is perfect to find a shady spot to relax. Anthony Hunte designed these gardens in some sort of natural sink hole and the tranquility is now available for anyone who pays to enjoy. You can get some snacks, or stroll around the paths. There are photo ops and places to sit everywhere.
This is Hunte's dining room. There are a couple of old buildings here dating back to the 1950s which they display antiques in. Hunte was probably wealthy, anyone who has such a place in the Barbados is doing well.
It would be incredible to live in such a place in the middle of tropical paradise. In another part of the building one can enjoy tea and snacks but this dining room is for photography lovers only.
Small fountains, ponds and statues dot the grounds. The sound of running water and birds fill the air. It is a much different vibe from the hot sun and waves, that is a world far away from the serenity here.
There are thousands of types of plants here, Anthony Hunte was a botanist extraordinaire. It rains almost every day in Barbados so the gardens are lush and there are hundreds of shades of green.
Most of the island is sugar cane fields. Barbados is a major sugar and rum producing nation. It just looks like tall grass everywhere so the garden is a real oasis between the suburban sprawl of low lying houses near the beaches and sugar cane fields throughout the island.
There is a tortoise pen in the garden and a cat or two lives here as well.
Since this is a new camera, I decided to take a variety of photos to see how it works. This was not taken with a macro lens.
Snails are a feature in every garden.
It must take so much work to keep this place looking great. Behind the scenes there was a nursery and I can image they are constantly planting and replacing flowers. There would be always a variety of flora in bloom.
A majority of these plants are not local. They would be from all over the tropics. If you are ever in Barbados, I highly recommend visiting something other than the beach. Thank you for dropping by and have a nice day!
All photos were taken with a Sony zv-e10 and a fe 25-105 f/4 g lens and are unfiltered
