In this blog, I'll share my captivating journey to Puri, a charming place in India located in Odisha. Embarking on this memorable adventure on 02/01/2020 proved to be an unforgettable experience. Joined by a group of friends, we went out on a thrilling adventure that words can hardly capture. Through the hive.blog platform, I aim to share my exhilarating Puri experience and represnt insights of this incredible destination.
Our adventure started at Puri station, where we hopped on a rickshaw, eventually arriving at 'NRS Royal Palace' Hotel. The hotel afforded us a splendid view of the majestic Puri sea beach, a constant source of internal joy. From there our first stop was the world popular 'Shree Jagannath Temple,' a prominent site among the 'Chardham' pilgrimage locations, established by King Ananta Varman Choda Ganga Deva of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Our visit there also included having the "Bhog" offering through coupon redemption. The temple's renowned Rath was a sight to behold, and we get to know to some peculiar tale: a myth surrounding the temple's flag, which purportedly flows against the wind's direction and another tale narrated by our guide involved a statue of Lord Hanuman suppressing the sea's tumult, rendering the sea's sound inaudible from the temple.
Udaygiri and Khandagiri were our next destinations, captivating us with their artistically carved rocks. Strolling hand in hand, we reveled in our freedom amidst Clean cool and shiny weather. Moving forward, we marveled at the enchanting Puri Konark Temple, where the sun is revered as a deity. This stone-carved architectural masterpiece resembles a chariot adorned with countless wheels and horses. The temple's intricate artwork depicts social life during that era, and the remarkable wheel design even struck a chord with modern watchmaking techniques. This testament to ancient science truly fascinated me.
Yet, the highlight of Puri undoubtedly lies in its breathtaking sea. Gazing at its seemingly endless expanse, I fondly recall the resonating bells of fishing boats and gained a glimpse into the lives of those who rely on the sea for sustenance. The captivating sunrise left an indelible impression on me. Walking along the shore, collecting seashells and stones, was a simple pleasure I cherished.
After that we went out to eat some of the local delicacies which includes a lot of seafood related items, and some other items like puri sabzi, gupchup, and some local sweets like patri khaja, puli and rabdi.
Although that time has passed, the sea's thunderous roar continues to echo in my memories. When weariness sets in, I close my eyes and relive the sea's splendor and vastness.
