RE: The Brecon Beacons (Wales)

That's gotta be the cheeriest article I've read all year. I hate camping, know what? Wait up.. Hate's a bit extreme. What I mean is, my idea of camping includes an RV, walls, heater, etcetera and what I just read leads me to believe I'm doing it wrong.

Sort:

hehe, camping = tent! and it is so much cheaper and more adventurous than RV

when I camp i tend to lean towards an ultra-rambo style set up: Bivvy and maybe a tarp for the colder seasons. Ultra lightweight.

That's the thing about camping...true camping that is....one has to let go of all unncessary comforts...man made comforts...and align with the surroundings we find ourselves in.

We have lost connection with nature, i'm sure you know that, by having so much things to fall back on...people are deathly afraid of being exposed to the elements and to the wild without a roof over the head, or walls to surround them...but we as humans wern't like that before...we've been domesticated big time.

I'm not deathly afraid of it. I just prefer a concierge, unlimited hot water and a bowl that flushes with the flick of a finger.

Yeah, that. To each their own.

When I was a kid (which is like 2 days ago) we'd camp which meant set the RV up at a full hook ups site. If it wasn't too cold I might pitch a tent a night or two in a 1 month span hashtag camping.

Glamis on the weekends we'd "camp" but that meant RV, heat, walls, electricity, etcetera.

One of the best weekends of my life was a camping trip with two of my buddies. I had to borrow a tent, a sleeping bag, everything. But that trip was one for the record books.

You sure know how to live life my friend! I've never seen such a large camping gathering as the one shown in your photo.

I sure miss camping.

That's called Glamis. It's in Imperial Valley which is the southern most point of California. All those sand dunes are between Mexico and US, as far as you can see. They're so vast if you go out there without GPS and get lost, you're done.

Cool you appreciated that link. I haven't been out there for about 10 years now. I miss it. This is the most I've talked about it actually so thanks for sparking a memory.

Hey happy Saturday dude. Or whatever day this is. Welcome to the blockchain, how's the first 6 months treating you? Seems I'm not done yet.... My wife's British, what part of UK are you from? Still there?

Cheers.

Ahh beautiful America. The one lament i have in life is that i never stepped foot there and saw it with my own eyes!

Maybe you could share your experiences at Glamis in your blog posts?

Thank thee for thy Saturday blessings. I'm having a wonderful Saturday, currently here practicing some sleight of hand with cards, thinking of pipe to smoke and what pipe tobacco to go with it...It's a wind Saturday in Birmingham, where I'm from.

About the blockchain, still trying to get used to the ecology here. So much to learn!

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Don't get me wrong... If we had an RV, we would have taken it 😄

But we don't.. so you make do with what you've got 😉

Your way is exciting. Really. I wish I was practiced at it.

Well you are welcome to borrow my tent 👍😄
