Are you still single? Have you hung out with friends who are in a relationship? What about third-wheeling with them? Do you think it's fun?
Since I'm in my 30s now, most of my friends are either engaged or married, and two years ago, I probably played the ultimate third wheeling role in my life in an island paradise.
My friend at that time has a foreign boyfriend and the guy came to visit her for a week. Because she wanted to save money on that vacation expenses, she invited me to come on that trip together with them given that I will pay 3rd-half for the vacation house and other expenses which I agreed and bought my plane ticket. It just got awkward because a day before the trip, the guy proposed to her and they suddenly got engaged, so that vacation can be considered as their pre-honeymoon.
However, since everything was already set, I still went with them. Then, we boarded the plane and headed for Siargao Island, the Palm Island of the Philippines.
The cloud 9 surfing spot is the most well-known spot to surf on the island, and it is the first stop of our tour. From the town center of General Luna, you could reach there in 5 to 10 minutes drive by a motorbike. There is a famous boardwalk as well that you could hike and take pictures for a 10 peso entrance fee. It is also one of General Luna’s highlight spots (though I heard that the wooden structure got ruined due to super typhoon Rai)
Aside from surfing, there are soo many things to do and places to explore.
On our second day, we went island hopping where we explore the other 3 smaller Islands around Siargao.
There are many foreign tourist as well that you could bumped in during the tour. On the photo are group of young Australian men on their fourth day on the Island.
First stop, the “Naked Island”. It is called Naked because there’s nothing really in there. No houses, no plants, just people, though by the time we went there, they already started the project of planting coconut trees on that island.
Then we went to "Guyam Island". Guyam is the local dialect for Ant. Why do they named it like that? Forgive me but I forgot to ask 😅 but it is surely another spot to remember because of its white sand beach and clear blue water.
Then the last stop was "Daku Island". Daku means big, also because it is the biggest among the 3 islands. We stayed there for a while and took our lunch with the other foreign tourist. The locals will offer you freshly cooked seafood and fresh coconut juice for a very cheap price. On our case, it was already included on the tour package.

At night, Siargao doesn’t sleep, as local bars and restaurants cater parties with live music or bands to perform for them, attracting tourist who wants an active night life.
Another lovely place to visit and in our third day on the Island is its lagoons. One of the famous is “Sugba Lagoon”. It’s a 45 minute to an hour drive by motorbike, and another 20 minute boat ride going to the center of the lagoon. There you could do paddle boarding for hours or dive on its man-made diving spot, or just simpy take a swim and enjoy the scenery for 3 hours.
They set a 3-hour limit per tourist to avoid overcrowding of the place and the docking spot for the boat as well is limited.
The lagoon is home to some crocodiles and jellyfish. Though I didn’t hear that someone got harmed by these animals in the place.

We spent 4 days on the Island living on the same villa with 2 rooms. We also rent a motorbike for 3 days so it’s easy for us to roam around.
Ohh, and about my friend and her fiance. They are now married and living happily together. Overall experience was fun, though I admit I told the couple to behave a lot of times in the public (if you know what I mean) 😆
The ultimate third-wheeling selfie.

I have never played third-wheeling role, I prefer to go alone 😁. The island is wonderful, the water looks so clean and I like the palm forest.
Lol, I also prefer solo travel or just with a group of friends that are not coupled up, but it was still a fun experience. The coconut forest looks really nice
Yay! 🤗
