Meeting locals is always more fun
A few weeks ago we figured out that @ace108 has some time to show us European travelers a bit of the not so touristy part of Singapore. See more at his post about our meetup
This said, we found each other for a evening with a walk and some food.
He was a very nice host and you will see more within this post.
Hey Hive Family
let us travel the world again
today Singapore
Hivians at dinner
Spending time together with some food and some talks.
The Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre
We visited this place and normally I might just skipped the building as it doesn’t look so interesting. But this different view is what you learn from others, as my European judgment has other “filters”.
As a traveler, I must say that the Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre in Singapore is a true culinary haven. Nestled in the heart of Chinatown, this bustling food center offers a delightful blend of local flavors and cultural experiences.
The location itself is rich in history, reflecting Singapore's multicultural heritage. The complex is housed in a distinct red-bricked building that exudes charm and character, a nod to its past as one of Singapore's first wet markets. Today, it stands as a vibrant hub for food enthusiasts seeking an authentic taste of Singaporean cuisine.
As you enter the food center, the aroma of various dishes fills the air, beckoning you to explore its offerings. From savory delights like Hainanese chicken rice and char kway teow to tantalizing desserts like ice kacang and pandan chiffon cake, the diversity of dishes available is simply astonishing. This evening it wasn’t full but a lot local people stayed there for dinner.
Our Food
One of the joys of visiting Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre is the chance to interact with the local hawkers who passionately prepare their dishes with generations-old recipes. They often share stories of their culinary heritage, adding to the overall experience and making the visit even more memorable.

The atmosphere is lively and energetic, with a constant stream of locals and tourists alike, all eager to savor the delicious fare. Finding a seat might require a bit of patience during peak hours, but the shared dining experience fosters a sense of camaraderie among diners.
My conclusion
The visit with a local Singaporean to the Chinatown Complex Market and Food Centre is a must-visit destination for any food lover exploring Singapore. It's a place where you can taste the authentic flavors of the city while immersing yourself in its rich cultural tapestry. So, do yourself a favor and indulge in the delightful culinary journey this place has to offer!
Check the price of the drinks as my Tigers 🐅 seem to be a bit more expensive as all the fresh made drinks at the shops.
Tigers
Suddenly some Tigers 🐯 show up to help us with some liquid with all the food.
You may know that this happens if you read more blog post created by @detlev.
Thanks again to @ace108 for this great evening.
After that huge dinner we needed some moving. So we did a nice walk through the light fully Chinatown.
Enjoy some pictures from our walk at Chinatown in Singapore
See the location at the pinmapple link at the comments.

Wow, I didn't expect this to come out so soon when you were having a long flight.
I guess it was a comfortable flight.
Glad we got together. Hope you enjoy the times.
Yeah, had some waiting time at the hotel and airport. Best time to create posts
Flight was good - most time sleep - and greetz from Amsterdam airport.
Schiphol Airport probably means KLM flight.
Luckily a Singapore Airline flight but this time with confused stewards as the server food to each of us within 30 or more minutes and not in one go.
Anyway I delta long 8h from the long flight
Flying SQ is always great
Looked like a great meetup with yummy food involved! Hope the family had a great time too. I see some Tigers!
I love the snaps around the area, especially the second to last shot and the people shots. They are always so telling!
Yeah, this one was fun and tasty

Those foods look familiar.. I guess I have eaten some before.. Similar to Hong Kong food ☺️
Yeah might be same same but slightly different
My rule when traveling is always eat where the locals eat, that's where the best food is!! @ace108 got it spot on here!!
Yepp, we had many good local restaurants in Indonesia. Lovely food.
Wow that was an awesome experience, especially when you introduced the foods you've eaten. Chinatown is really colorful.
That food was great.

That's super awesome! When are we going to have some west coast USA meetups?
Whenever you invite me or whenever we travel there or maybe whenever there is a sponsor for the traveling.
Where at west coast are you based ?
Portland Oregon USA! And we have had a couple meetups and I'd love to get another one going.
My advice - book a table at a nice pub and make it public here on hive. Add the people you know and see how many will show up.
So finally made it to this post. Man, you are lucky enough to have your fellow Hivers taking care of you wherever you go, isn´t that amazing? :) What a great day (and night) it must have been, especially after those tigers showed up :D I actually just had another very interesting "beer tasting weekend" as we managed to visit several craft breweries here in Prague and it was so "intense" that my drinking buddy has been missing since last night :D :/ Still no message from him but I´m sure he is ok somewhere as he is "an extremely experienced beer taster" :D
Yeah, the Hive network of friendly people all around the globe is so cool.
Whenever you are ever close to the city of Aachen in Germany, just let me know
Absolutely :) Cheers!
