Funnel - San Roque Dam, Córdoba, Argentina.

Sometimes it's lucky to get lost when you go on the wrong route, you can discover places you didn't know existed, come across beautiful natural landscapes and very interesting areas of the city. This is what happened to us because of an error in the Waze app, we were going to a place and it redirected us to a different route, we arrived to the San Roque dam, we found it so interesting that we stopped for a few minutes to appreciate the landscape and to know a little of what that area in the province of Cordoba was all about.

That bridge between the mountains and over the river was worthy for a cover photo in today's article. Luckily I'm home now and I have more time and signal to be more active on the platform and catch up with everything here.

The reservoir that has the name of the closest people "San Roque", has the peculiarity that it has been built by two companies other than the long years. The first construction was between 1880 and 1890 and the second construction in the middle of the last century, approximately between 1940 and 1944.

One of the reasons why tourists or visitors are amazed when passing through here is the funnel, which makes the water spread to the streets, In addition to the visually attractive. So many stop there to see it and admire the landscape in general.

This funnel allows water decompression on the wall, It allows the passage of water to the Suquía River and prevents the cities of Córdoba, La Calera and Villa Carlos Paz from flooding. Its main use is to supply drinking water to the cities of Córdoba and parts of the Sierras Chicas.

In the following four photos you can see how water is expelled by this system to the other side of the river.

Although it is visually impressive it can be a bit dangerous if you get a lot, look for it for a few seconds produce dizziness and feel a bit weird.

A couple of years ago there have been two situations in this dam, neighbors have denounced people who have thrown stones into the funnel, leaving marks on the structure as well as a person who fell into the funnel for unknown reasons which caused his death. It is shocking to see this structure, to appreciate it, to admire all the landscape it composes together with the mountains and the river and also to know this news.

Obviously the attractiveness of the area has caused a lot of tourism in the area and that visitors stop to appreciate. This has also caused informal trade in the area, people selling crafts and others offering photo services with some animals such as Llama and horses. These animals are there dressed in striking colors waiting with their owners for tourists who want a print photo with them.

There are always opportunities to make money, right?
