The Majestic Hill "Los Gigantes", Tanti, Córdoba. Argentina [ENG/ESP]

IMG_20250301_170049578.jpg

For this last vacation, we decided to rent a small house in a town of Cordoba called Tanti, it's a very small town as far as center, stores and housing is concerned but after a few days there we discovered that it was possible to travel to one of the most emblematic areas of the country even, visiting the central-western part of the province, to one of the most imposing hills that is actually within Tanti, so we can say that it is not as small as we thought... It's the “Los Gigantes” hill, or “Macizo Los Gigantes”.

But what is it about?

It's a mountainous system that is part of the Sierras Grandes, this is parallel to the Andes Mountain Range, which includes territories of various landscapes such as: Bolivia, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia.

Within the hills that make up the Sierras Grandes we have: “Cerro Aspero”, “Los Linderos”, ‘Champaquí’, “De la Bolsa” and “Los Gigantes”, located approximately 32 km from the town of Tanti, which would be 1 hour and 15 minutes drive, although it took us much longer, the road is partly dirt and for safety is not recommended and so fast, besides this the weather was not very favorable for us, so we decided to take our time.

After all, admiring the scenery during the trip was part of the trip itself, we stopped in several places and collected quartz since in all that area you can get a lot of variety of energetic stones.

But before arriving to “Los Gigantes”, we made a short stop at a place, a camping shelter called:

CASAS NUEVAS.

A friend had told us before starting the trip about this place where you could camp and then get to Los Gigantes very early in the morning, Casas Nuevas is a beautiful campsite, domes to stay, there are also areas for tents and it is a very green place, a very friendly community both workers and each of the people who were staying there.

Unfortunately we decided not to camp, we were not very convinced that we had the weather in our favor at that time, so we decided to continue. I should mention that the prices are high if you choose the domes, $50 per person although if you choose the tents you only pay $10 per person per day.

We were very close to our destination and we could already see the welcome signs, prices per person to climb the mountain 10$ for adults and 8$ for children, the trekking there must be an impressive experience, although we did not do it because of the weather and the late arrival I wish we could go back and do it. It is a three hour trek, an hour and a half going up and an hour and a half going down, you can choose two paths and you have a guide who accompanies and directs the group.

What is customary is to go up very early in the morning with the intention of seeing the sunrise because you would literally be above the clouds and you can appreciate the different tones and intensities from another perspective.

Before arriving I made another stop to take advantage of a puddle of water and take a couple of photos with reflections 🤣

We finally arrived at the base of “Los Gigantes”, the imposing hill of 2350 meters above sea level, the view was simply amazing, although there was a lot of fog at that time it was not so cold. There were signs with indications and prohibition to paint and take any stone you find, just like in the energetic forest we visited in Miramar in December last year.

Shortly after appreciating the scenery and having a good time there we decided to return and a few minutes later a storm started, so we were a little lucky not to have decided to stay, the next day it was raining a lot. It was not the right day or time to try to climb the mountain so it will remain pending for a future that I hope will not be too far away.

Did you know about the mountain "Los Gigantes"?

What did you think about the place and the article? If you have any favorite picture obviously let me know in the comments :)

Have a nice weekend.

Wow, it's really amazing, it deserves to be known as a very beautiful hill, it turns out the view is really amazing and its beauty is very entertaining ❤️
