Basilica of the Holy Spirit, Buenos Aires.
(Basílica del Espíritu Santo, Buenos Aires).
I have decided to visit each of the most important temples in the city of Buenos Aires and share them with all of you, highlighting their history, architecture, characteristics and more. This time the choice has been this beautiful basilica located in the neighborhood of Palermo, which I already knew but had never been able to access the interior. It is located in the small square Güemes.
For some time I have been interested in large structures that house stories and have a great attraction in terms of architecture, if we are talking about temples, churches or cathedrals I think I lean towards the neo-Gothic style ... this is the style of the Basilica of the Holy Spirit and its two huge towers are characteristic of it.
A catholic church with more than 50 meters high and that remains in the square Güemes since the beginning of the last century, approximately in the year 1905 since its inauguration. This type of temples were always so special in every way at that time, one of the aspects I am referring to is its construction and the materials used.
Usually most of these materials came from Europe, such as the bell towers and the two giant clocks that are in each tower, these were brought from Germany, on the other hand the image of the virgin came from Mexico.
The architect in charge of this work was Juan Beckeert, who was also a theologian and priest.
In these photos you can see the details of which I am referring to, the main entrance in the small square where you can see in an imposing way this temple, as well as the German clocks in its towers, one of the towers very close and the writing at the entrance of the basilica with the name in Spanish "BASILICA DEL ESPÍRITU SANTO - PARROQUIA NUESTRA SEÑORA DE GUADALUPE".
From here I share with you the pictures I took once inside this catholic church. Although it seemed empty there were some people and I didn't want to disturb their stay with an annoying flash when shooting, so I decided to take the pictures of the inside with my phone.
Getting to know the interior of this temple was a wonderful experience, being able to admire its enormous columns, its naves, stained glass windows and those geometric designs that make its space something magnificent. The paintings and artwork on the ceiling is something that has always fascinated me about these places and buildings and I think these pictures show some of it.
It is also observed two floors that would be two balconies facing the main entrance and also the good state of preservation despite all the years it has, obviously I should emphasize that in 2000 this temple had a major reconstruction to continue standing in very good condition.

This sounds like a big projects as I believe that there are many temples in Buenos Aires considering that Argentina is a religious country, right? 🙂 Either way, it sounds like fun. This one looks very nice. It reminds me of churches/cathedrals in Europe 🙂
Thank you for sharing!
It's definitely a religious country. The churches/cathedrals here have a lot of European influence, I'm glad you liked it @delishtreats

Saludos hermano, cómo estás? Muchas gracias
Me encantó tu post. ¡Saludos!
