Hi there. In this travel blog post I cover going from Dubai's International Airport to Guangzhou, China. Guangzhou is a mega city in the Guangdong province in South China. It is near Hong Kong and Macau.
I apologize in advance for the lack of pictures in some of these initial travel posts. I do get more photos in the later section of this travel blog series from Dubai to China. I have maybe 40 posts worth of material.
Heading To Dubai Intl Airport From Copthorne Airport Hotel
The flight from Dubai to Guangzhou was in the morning at around 11:15 AM Dubai time (I think). It was important for our group to wake up early, have morning breakfast buffet at the airport hotel, get ready and then go.
After handing back the card keys we board the shuttle bus from the hotel to the Dubai International Airport. We did get somewhat lost at the airport in terms of finding each other and where to go.

Emirates Flight From Dubai To Guangzhou, China
No picture here but I do recall taking a shuttle bus from the airport to the plane itself. As it was Dubai summer outside was super hot. It was around 35 degrees Celsius before 12PM Dubai time. You really felt the heat as you boarded the plane.
Arrival At Guangzhou, China
The flight from Dubai to Guangzhou took around 8 hours. As China is four hours ahead of Dubai we arrive there at nearly midnight China time.
Getting SIM Card From China Mobile
After clearing security and immigration checks, there was a vendor trying to get your attention. She was trying to sell SIM cards for China Mobile. Three of us six in the travel group decided to pay for a 30 day prepaid SIM card with a data plan. The price was around 199 CNY which came to around 40 CAD. Somewhat pricey but the young woman included installation and setup on your phone.
Lavande Hotel Near Airport
The same vendor that sold mobile SIM cards also had hotel signing connections. Our travel group went with this too. A second woman led the way in finding a hotel shuttle bus to the hotel. It was unknown what the airport hotel was until arrival. It was Lavande Hotel. This was a hotel that was familiar to me by name from research.
It took to maybe 1AM to finally settle in our hotel rooms. We did manage to find late dinner nearby. This day was tough. Here are two hotel photos.
More to come.
