Introduction
Guom Lake means "Sword Lake", also known as Hoan Kiem Lake means "Lake of the Returned Sword". It is a fresh water lake of 12 hectares in the historical center of Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. Guom Lake is the meeting point of the main streets in Hanoi, so from here visitors can easily reach other tourist attractions of the city. In addition, it is also a meeting place of the past, present and future with ancient architectural buildings combined with a modern and civilized lifestyle.
History
In fact, the lake has existed for a long time, several thousand years ago. Before the current official name, the lake had many other names associated with many different stories such as Luc Thuy lake due to its blue water all year round, Thuy Quan lake because this place used to be used by the imperial court for naval training. The name Hoan Kiem Lake dates back to the 15th century, associated with the legend that King Ly Thai To returned the sword to the turtle god living in this lake after borrowing it to defeat the Chinese Ming invaders.
Destination
This is a destination not to be missed for tourists visiting Hanoi. There are many interesting places and activities waiting for you to explore.
Turtle Tower
The tower was built on a mound of about 350 square meters. It is a tower with 4 floors, the bottom floor is the widest and the upper floors are getting smaller. On the third floor of the tower, there is an inscription that says Quy Son Thap, which means Turtle Mountain Tower. Turtle Tower has a beauty of interference between two architectural styles, French architecture and indigenous architecture, creating its unique and separate beauty. Experiencing many ups and downs of history, Turtle Tower is the existence of the spirit of Hanoi people in particular and of Vietnam in general.
Ngoc Son Temple
Ngoc Son Temple was built in the mid-nineteenth century, on a high mound in the northeast of Sword Lake. This is the place to worship Van Xuong and Thanh Hung Dao. The architecture of the temple has bold religious colors. Inside, there are many banners and couplets arranged in a harmonious way, creating an ancient and sacred beauty.
The Huc Bridge
This is also a symbol representing the charming beauty of Guom Lake. The Huc Bridge consists of a total of 15 spans, designed to bend in the shape of a shrimp, made of wood and painted dark red - the color of life and prosperity. With a long history, the bridge also becomes a destination not to be missed by every tourist when visiting Hanoi.
Walking Street
Walking Street around Guom Lake is a place that definitely should not be missed to understand more about Hanoi. You can enjoy cultural and artistic activities, physical activities, folk games, specialty dishes, relax on the benches or simply walk to see life. of Hanoi and breathe in the fresh air from the old trees around the lake.

I think that's the culture. Asian people always gather at the river. You are in Thai Land, have you been to floating market in Bangkok?
