I absolutely love Cape Town and exploring the city, the buildings are so beautiful and such a fascinating contrast to the mountains and nature in the background.
We visited the Castle of Good Hope, it is an unbelievable structure built in the 17th century and is now a historical monument. It is considered the best preserved example of a 17th century architectural structure.
It was built by the Dutch East Indian Company between 1666 and 1679 - its crazy to think that this may be the oldest existing building in South Africa!
I love that behind the castle, an old grand building you can see a very modern building peaking through behind it - the old and new brought together.
This torture chamber was by far the creepiest room I have ever encountered, I could not even enter the room... You could almost feel the pain and torment in the atmosphere, I can't begin to imagine what kind of horrors happened in this tiny room...
Tiny tiny windows...
Walking around the castle and experiencing the history was pretty fun, it was awesome seeing the architecture and learning a bit more about my country. At the same time though, I found the atmosphere in the castle pretty eerie and kind of creepy, I was slightly excited to leave to be honest...
Still enjoyed the experience at the castle though...
The museum was very interesting, I love exploring museums and historical buildings.
I hope you enjoyed experiencing the castle a little bit through my photographs! 😀
The buildings in Cape Town are pretty magnificent aren't they?

One can feel a cloud of witnesses when walking through that castle and yet it stands as a monument for every soul that occupied it through the ages.

Ah I know, its a very strange experience walking around a place that you know has been there for centuries.
Exactly, and one comes away afterwards with fluttering emotions.
