Bike Ride Through the Autumn Foliage: Vermont

I had to rock-hop out into the middle of the river to get this photo. Stowe is such a picturesque place at this time of year.

Today was the perfect day to get out and enjoy the fall season here in Stowe, Vermont. Yesterday was a bit blustery, and the town was packed full of out-of-town leaf peepers visiting. The traffic was horrendous. We did see a black bear in the middle of town, which was pretty cool, as we were stuck in traffic on our way to the playground. Today started out pretty cool, but warmed up enough for what may be the last family bike ride of the year. Snow is right around the corner... although hopefully still a little longer before winter.

The three kids and I hit up the Stowe bike path near our house for some morning fun. Catalina wanted to go check out the Stowe Farmers Market, I think she had a cinnamon roll on her mind. So we headed off in that direction. Dela is still on a push bike, so a bit slower. The other kids would just zoom off ahead and then race back. We stopped in several places to take in the beautiful scenery. One of my favorite stops was the photo above, where I had to carefully rock hop out into the river to really get a good shot of this bridge that we had just biked across.

We stopped to pet some cows and goats near the corn maze, before continuing on to the festival area. I was a bit surprised when we finally got to our destination, as it was completely empty, except for some large propane tanks and one huge vacant tent. I then remembered that yesterday had been super windy, and apparently the wind had crashed down several of the other big tents, crushing hundreds of people's things. Luckily no one was hurt. So we made the turn back towards the car and just enjoyed our wonderful outing in this little piece of paradise.

I wanted to show how the autumn foliage is past the peak, on its way out. Next up is the not-so-popular 'stick season'. Although Nathan Khon has made it pretty famous with his popular song called Stick Season.

Other bikers and walkers better watch out, the Tamarack gang is representing. From pedal bike, to scooter, to push bike, we've got it covered.

This is the last of the corn around here. They leave this field till pretty late because it is the location of the Stowe corn maze.

I thought the colors in the photo really popped.

We were having fun with slow motion videos of the kids jumping. I took this still from the iphone video.
