Hello people and pinmapplers!
Or merhaba! (hello in Turkish)
It's still summer, it's hot around here, and the best thing is to be able to cool off on the beach, and of course it's also travel time, what if we do both? In some places there are so many beaches that if we don't have too much time the best option is to take a different trip, a road trip and so I traveled the Mediterranean coast of Turkey to discover some of its most iconic beaches.
We start the beach route: Turkey's beaches or Türkiye Plajları.
Marmaris
We covered the distance directly from Izmir (the country's third city, in the west, on the Aegean coast) to Marmaris further south. And here what is most striking is the amount of tourism, especially English tourists, so in the main city there is a lot of movement, people and life. But if we want a quiet place and finally take a bath, there are also beaches a little further out, where there is more vegetation but also a charming pier, boats and an atmosphere of serenity. Although the sand is not fine and white, rather more stony, but the water is great. From the coast we look at the surrounding mountains.
On the road
And when we move away we continue our trip precisely going up those same mountains, from the car and stopping we enjoy the panoramic views of the green of the lush vegetation and the blue of the sea. We follow the route.
Ölüdeniz
Interestingly the name means “dead sea”, and somehow it is a kind of inland special sea with a different composition and a different color. Although it does not float the same as in the famous Dead Sea.
It is a large tourist area, with a complex, tourist residences, activities such as paragliding, there are also boats and quiet moments, when most of people are gone, especially at the last moments of the day. So you can also enjoy the sunset in the different areas.
Here, too, the sand is somewhat grayer and with small stones, but the water, as I say, is different, a strange and relaxing sensation. Ideal to go to sleep here and the next day continue the route.
Patara
In the morning we arrived at a large wild beach, windy and few people, this time with soft and fine sand, meters and meters of white sand and a long coastline.
An old beach with history, so much so that we found it after leaving, monuments and archaeological remains around the area.
Highway again
And now while we walk or cross the profile of the coast, I see in the distance a town that catches my attention, I think it was Kemer, although we didn't stop there much, I think the people who live there must have a good quality of life, it gave me that feeling. And we continue to enjoy more impressive views of the non-stop moving sea.
Kaputaş
We arrived at one of the most longed for places, a unique and special place. One of those beaches sandwiched between mountains, backed by the cliff that protects it and almost hides it, because accessing it is not easy. On the same road, you have to stop and try to park around the side of the road and then go down a long staircase (with your flip-flops) and then stand there in front of that vibrant and brilliant water.
Here we put the umbrella and lie down, rest from the trip... a quick and fresh roadtrip that takes us to the views of different beaches in this wonderful country. From here we go straight to Antalya, the big city on the south coast, and so we say:
See you Turkey! or Görüşürüz Türkiye!. 🇹🇷
Beaches, Türkiye 💙 Asia

Oh merhaba arkadaşım 🤗 Yes we all need a refreshing time, for example, now 😅
Hope you are having a nice summer dear.

To be alive and thriving and going on a road trip to see beautiful beaches.. ahhh dream come true! :) Seeing your photos made me smile. Indeed, the weather there is in stark contrast to the monsoon rains we've been having the past week. LOL! Thank you for making me dream of going to the beach when the weather clears. ;) have a happy weekend!

The meaning of the sea " Dead sea" is really interesting one. The rocky sea side would be difficult to walk?
Yeah interesting one, it was really different water, weird feeling but the previous steps until reaching the water and swim not very comfortable for everyone, for me! jaja used to soft sand 😅
Turkey is in my list to visit but still I am not confirmed that when I will have enough money to visit my desired countries.
Yes this country is a must-to-be-visited, there are so many things to see, do and eat! And due to the currency now it's cheaper than when I was there. Hope you can go and hope I can come back!
Oh Duvinca you really highlight and show why the world has so many beautiful places. The places your eyes have seen is incredible. Your a living bucket list of travel experiences.
I have been close to this region. I almost spent close to a years time in Saudi Arabia back in my military days on a few trips there. Not exactly a travel experience as I was limited to the base only most of the time. I remember sand and more sand being in a sand box. Did get off the base twice for a total of 4 days. So I got to see the local customs and beliefs. Oh memory lane 1998 to 1999 seems like yesterday some days, jaja.
Thanks! 😊 Well I had a weird life during some years living abroad... so now many memories as you have too, and I think it's good, different experiences that we remember and shared. Sometimes if we are not on holidays but working it's not the same, not time to see all as we would like... I saw many things and places but missed others, but it's normal, we keep other sensations at least.
In Turkey there are many military bases, and yes some Americans and NATO bases too, for example in Izmir, the city where I lived.
!LUV
Oh yes many military in Turkey. I have made plenty of reservations for people assigned there. Both Izmir and especially to Incirlik AB (near Adana, Turkey). Its so neat to actually see the areas via travel blogs, rather than see fares, reservations and paperwork of those I made travel arrangements for.
Yes better photos than paperwork 😉
Thanks for showing us the beaches of Türkiye. There are similar places in Italy too, but the beaches in Italy tend to be sandier
Thanks to you! Grazie! Yes I know there are wonderful beaches in Italy 🤩 I know some and hope I can see more (soon), and true, sandier (like here too) but in Turkey specially on the southwest you find many rocky beaches, but there are also others with sand (I put one big, Patara and also in Antalya area...). There are a lot and different. Happy day Stefano!
You took some magnificent views! I see that they have white houses like in Greece.
Thanks! It was all relaxed and improvised... but all was very nice and yes there are some similarities between both countries, more than those they want to admit. 😊
Glad to see you again here!🤗
This place is very beautiful as we can see that the water is looking very beautiful in the pictures.
Thanks! Yeah all those beaches are beautiful, always good photos near the sea. Happy Friday!
Most welcome dear. Happy Friday to you too.
