El cerro de monserrate es probablemente el lugar donde puedes encontrar más turistas en Bogotá, y es que te ofrece una vista imponente y hermosa a la ciudad, sin duda no podía perderme este plan durante mi viaje, debo decir que se encontraba bastante lejos de el apartamento donde nos estábamos quedando, en este punto del viaje ya amaba el Transmilenio pues desde mi opinión es mucho más rápido moverse así que utilizando uber... En Bogotá hay demasiado trafico y en muchas oportunidades trancones que nos llegaron a retrasar incluso media hora en nuestra ruta del día.
The Monserrate hill is probably the place where you can find more tourists in Bogota, and it offers a breathtaking and beautiful view of the city, no doubt I could not miss this plan during my trip, I must say that it was quite far from the apartment where we were staying, at this point of the trip I loved the Transmilenio because from my opinion it is much faster to move this way than using uber ... In Bogota there is too much traffic and in many opportunities traffic jams that delayed us even half an hour in our route of the day.
Este día tuvimos que separarnos pues tuvimos un error con la tarjeta del Transmilenio, se quedo sin saldo, así que uno de mis amigos que pudo pasar se tuvo que ir primero solo, fue gracioso, según nos conto termino yendo a un barrio un poco más arriba de la parada del cerro, por suerte logramos re-agruparnos. Una vez que llegas tienes tres opciones para subir, una de ellas es caminando y por supuesto es gratis, este es un plan muy común entre los habitantes de la ciudad, tomar el fin de semana para hacer esta ruta a pie, yo tenia muchas ganas de hacerlo, pienso que así disfrutas más, pero mis amigos ya estaban muy agotados de los días anteriores... Las otras dos formas son: Funicular y teleférico, el segundo estuvo en mantenimiento pero sin duda es la mejor opción, pienso que la vista debe ser increíble mientras va subiendo, en el funicular no pudimos apreciar todo el ascenso puesto que tomamos los últimos puestos, ese día estaba a reventar así que la fila para subir y bajar no nos permitió escoger mejores lugares.
This day we had to separate because we had a mistake with the Transmilenio card, it ran out of balance, so one of my friends who could pass had to go first alone, it was funny, as he told us he ended up going to a neighborhood a little further up the hill stop, luckily we managed to regroup. Once you arrive you have three options to go up, one of them is walking and of course it is free, this is a very common plan among the inhabitants of the city, take the weekend to do this route on foot, I really wanted to do it, I think that way you enjoy more, but my friends were already very exhausted from the previous days.... The other two ways are: Funicular and cable car, the second one was in maintenance but without a doubt it is the best option, I think the view must be incredible while going up, in the funicular we could not appreciate all the ascent since we took the last seats, that day it was packed so the line to go up and down did not allow us to choose better places.
Una vez de que estas en la cima solo queda disfrutar de esa increíble vista y la brisa fría, el día estuvo despejado, por lo general según nos contaron trabajadores del lugar es nublado en sus alrededores, tuvimos la dicha de ver los demás cerros y montañas con total nitidez. También podemos encontrar "la Basílica Santuario del Señor Caído de Monserrate", nos comentaron algunos mitos como que la escultura del señor caído le crece el cabello o que las parejas que visitan juntos esta basílica por alguna extraña razón nunca se casan... No se hasta que punto sea verdad, quizá son solo creencias pero pienso que lugares así por lo general tienen aún más magia con este tipo de leyendas, espero explicarme bien en este punto.
Once you are at the top you just have to enjoy the incredible view and the cold breeze, the day was clear, usually as we were told by workers of the place is cloudy in the surroundings, we were fortunate to see the other hills and mountains with total clarity. We can also find the "Basilica Santuario del Señor Caído de Monserrate", we were told some myths like that the sculpture of the fallen lord grows his hair or that couples who visit this basilica together for some strange reason never get married.... I do not know to what extent it is true, maybe they are just beliefs but I think that places like this usually have even more magic with this kind of legends, I hope I explain myself well at this point.
Al fondo hay una especie de bazar donde puedes encontrar las tipicas tiendas de recuerditos, además de un pasillo repleto de ventas de comidas tipicas e incluso almuerzos ejecutivos, como se lo imaginan es bastante costoso dado que esta ubicado en esta zona turistica, por ejemplo, una arepa de choclo (mi comida favorita de Colombia) sale en 5.000 COP, cuando en la ciudad puedes conseguirla incluso en 1.500 COP, obvio, varia dependiendo del lugar, pero habló de los puestos en la calle... Así que puedes darte una idea de todo lo demás, ese día compramos unas pulseras para llevarnos un recuerdo pero nada más.
At the back there is a kind of bazaar where you can find the typical souvenir stores, plus a corridor full of typical food sales and even executive lunches, as you can imagine it is quite expensive since it is located in this tourist area, for example, an arepa de choclo (my favorite food in Colombia) goes for 5,000 COP, when in the city you can get it even for 1,500 COP, obviously, it varies depending on the place, but talked about the stalls in the street .... So you can get an idea of everything else, that day we bought some bracelets to take a souvenir but nothing else.
También hay un mirador hacia las montañas una vez que haces todo el recorrido por el bazar, algo muy bonito son los animales que viven en el cerro, gordos y bonitos, pudimos ver un perrito enorme que según nos cuentan duerme en la zona de comidas y quienes trabajan allí se encargan de el.
There is also a viewpoint towards the mountains once you make the whole tour of the bazaar, something very nice are the animals that live on the hill, fat and beautiful, we could see a huge dog that we were told sleeps in the food court and those who work there are in charge of it.
