This blog is all about food. It’s a list of my favourite places to eat in Kasol main market. I’m so thankful to my friend who joined me for the last week in Kasol. Without her, I would have not known the true essence of Kasol.
To me, Kasol market seemed very crowed at first. I was disappointed and didn’t want to visit again. Since I was staying at a tranquil place in Kasol for a month, I got so used to the silence and empty roads.
However, everything changed when I started to search for better food options. After finding out many good food joints and restaurants, I became a regular visitor of Kasol market for food. Here’s a list of the places I would recommend to anyone travelling to Kasol.
1. PanjTara
This easily became our regular hangout place. PanjTara has cozy corners with ambient lighting and decor. All of which makes it a good spot to work from during weekdays. The food tastes good and they serve in good quantity.
On the first day, we tried thier mixed sauce pasta and loved it. We came here again to order the same. It had a tangy, creamy, thick sauce which tasted very different from all the sauces I’ve had till then.
They also have a variety of desserts. We tried blueberry cheesecake and cream filled donuts. It was not as delicious as its looks. I loved the cheesecake I got in the small bakeries outside better. So, I would say, maybe skip the cheesecakes.
Coffee was also good from here. They also have hot drinks here with an live kitchen. There were music live performances during weekends as well. All in all, PanjTara is a good spot to hangout with friends as well as dates.
2. Sonam Tibetan Dhaba
I’m not a huge mutton fan and this is the place I always visited only for their mutton soups. Sonam Tibetan Dabba is a small corner place right at the centre of Kasol market. As the name suggests, it is a small place with few seats. They serve many items from momos, noodles to soups.
My friend suggested me this place for their mutton soup and then it became a routine for me to have a mutton soup before starting any trip since we come to Kasol to travel anywhere. I have never had such flavourful soup before. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of mutton but I ended up having this soup every time we passed through Kasol market. It was that good.
I’ve tried the soup and momos and loved both. It is also the cheapest place for good food.
3. German Bakery
There are many German bakeries in Kasol. Most of them have similar items on their shelves. however, I really liked one such bakery for their cheesecakes. I’m not sure about the name or if it has a name at all. From the map, it seems to be located under Skyspeed tours and travels. It’s in the right side of a turning road to Manikaran.
I’ve tried their cheesecakes, lemon cakes and more. Out of which, cheesecakes were main takeaways most days. It was fluffy and yum!
4. Momos
Everyone suggested to try Shambu momos and we did. And, we got dissapointed. I don’t know if it was just the day we visited but I really didn’t like thier momos and chutneys.
However, we found this small place called Himalayan Dhabba that served hot momos. Both momos and chutneys are good from here. Again, a small place with very few seats. But, I would recommend this place for momos.
5. Offlimits
Hemp and hemp products has been a hot-trend for a while now. Ever since I worked for a CBD brand and researched about the topic, I always wanted to try hemp products. I bought few hemp made bags from Kaosl. Now, it was time to try hemp infused coffee.
Offlimits is famous for their hemp infused food and drinks. I was really curious about how it would taste. I ordered a hemp infused cappuccino and it was served with hemp seeds on the top. It didn’t taste any different than some nuts shavings. More like a soft crunchy almond. They have a nice place near the river so it is a good place to hangout.
Well, these are the places I would visit again in Kasol market. There’s also a few things I missed out to try which makes the bonus list for the blog.
- The local wine shop
They have a wide variety of flavours from local flowers and fruits. The rhododendron one is famous here and there were other fruits like plum.
- The Happy Uncle
If you crave for chaats and other Indian snacks, particularly the Delhi street food, this is the place to visit. The uncle here makes good chaats and snacks. This is my friend’s favourite place for Indian snacks.
- The coffee shop next to Happy Uncle
This one is best if you need a quick hot tea or coffee, which you might need most of the time in Kasol. They have small seats and we used to end our trip with a coffee from here.
Most people visit Kasol for one or two days and might not have the time to visit these places like I did. So, here’s a quick food trip you can do if you want to taste the best in one day.
In the morning, start the day with a mutton soup from the Tibetan dabba. It will make you almost full and give you enough energy to walk around for few hours. Once tired, head over to PanjTara and try the mixed sauce pasta. I know the desserts looks tempting but Leave! Try out the basque cheesecake on the turning road. The plain one tastes better. Both of these will make you full till evening. In the evening, try momos from the turning and head over to Offlimits. Try the hemp coffee or any other drink. Tada, that’s your mini food tour guide to complete with your shopping in Kasol market.

Option number 1 seems to be a good option, musical performances, the atmosphere should be friendly to hang out with friends and family.
Option 2, I find interesting a lemon cake, cheesecake is also a good option.
