This is our last day in Edinburgh and we started it with a very nice breakfast at Mimi’s Bakehouse. We’ll tell you more about this place in our next post with all our Edinburgh eats. But here is a picture of our dessert.

After the breakfast we walked to the Palace of Holyroodhouse a historic and iconic royal residence with a history dating back to the 16th century. Originally, it was built as a guesthouse for visiting monarchs, it now serves as the official residence of the British monarch during their visits to Scotland.

It is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens and situated against the dramatic backdrop of Arthur's Seat, Holyroodhouse stands as a testament to Scotland's rich heritage and regal traditions.

You can get you tickets in advance but there’s not big lines here, I think you can just walk in. And just like many other castles or palaces, you can’t take pictures in, so this is going to be a short tour. But it is worth your time the central patio looks like Hogwarts and it has beautiful gardens.

Next to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, there are two Geological formations just side by side. One is the mythical Arthur’s Seat (251 meters) and the other is the Salisbury Crags (151 meters). It was time for a hike. And because we had not much time, not because our physical condition prevents us from reaching the top (wink) (wink), we decided to climb the Salisbury Crags.

Here is a map of the area. Maybe this will help you imagine better our day.

Actually, it was not really a physical challenge, it was a beautiful hike and very enjoyable. At some points the terrain is a little steep if you took the wrong path, but when you reach the top it is just magic.

From the Salisbury Crags you will get spectacular views from the city, Arthur’s seat and even from the Palace of Holyroodhouse. You can even get a glimpse of the sea. I think we spend more time admiring the views from the top than going up, usually is the other way around.

The Salisbury Crags are cliffs, so it’s kind of fun to go close the edge. I have videos of this, but not many photos, so I apologize if the photos are not of good quality.

Going down was easy, just the last part was a little tricky.

After the hike, we went back to the city center and had lunch in Oink, and institution of the city and for sure a place you need to try when in Edinburgh. I’ll tell you more about this place in another post.

And that was our last day in Edinburgh. Then we got our bags and went to the airport and took another plane to our next destination. Can you guess where we went next? One tip: is not in UK.
