Today I will take you on a #walk through one of the most beautiful parks in the #city of Las Tunas: Maceo Park.
Located almost in the center of the city, although it is not geographically, it does become part of the cultural and commercial center of the province.
Protected by the shade of palm trees and leafy trees, it is a place of transit and rest for the thousands of pedestrians who circulate daily through this beautiful park.
Maceo Park is a reference site for the province. Around it are the headquarters of UNEAC, the Provincial Culture Directorate, the Cultural Plaza, the Palace of Marriages, the Provincial Education Directorate, among other organizations.
Around it we can also find craft fairs and service and food stalls.
However, crafts and manufactured objects are highly coveted by the inhabitants of Las Tunas and visitors.
One of the oldest businesses, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, is this tobacco shop. Here we can see how they make cigars by hand. It is worth clarifying that, although the tobacco shop dates back to 1926, this trade has been carried out in Cuba since the 16th century.
But that will be a job for later.
In the park we can find several monuments, like this one to the mothers.
The monolith erected to the victims of the independence wars in Las Tunas.
And, of course, the monument to Antonio Maceo, from whom the park takes its name.
This is a beautiful park. The design balances local nature with spaces for rest and transit of people.
In addition, it is also intended to be used as the monthly headquarters of Book Thursday and the weekly headquarters of the concert band of the province.
Anyone who has sat down to rest or has been here must have noticed a very interesting detail.
The park benches are made of granite. But that is not the most interesting thing, but rather that more than half of the benches were donated by businesses, merchants or people of great importance to the province, from the time of the Spanish colony to the present day.
Here I show you some of them.
Most of these businesses no longer exist, however, the benches are still here, decorating the park, providing comfort to passersby and forming part of the history of the province.
I hope that, when you pass through Las Tunas, you remember to sit in this beautiful place.

Hoy los llevaré de #paseo por uno de los parques más hermosos que tiene la #ciudad de Las Tunas: el parque Maceo.
Ubicado casi en el centro de la ciudad, aunque no lo está geográficamente, sí se convierte en parte del centro cultural y comercial de la provincia.
Protegidos por la sombra de palmeras y árboles frondosos, es un lugar de tránsito y reposo para los miles de transeúntes que circulan a diario por este hermoso parque.
El parque Maceo es un sitio de referencia de la provincia. A su alrededor quedan la sede de la UNEAC, la dirección de Cultura Provincial, la Plaza Cultural, el Palacio de los Matrimonios, la Dirección Provincial de Educación, entre otros organismos.
A su alrededor también podemos encontrar ferias de artesanías y puestos de servicios y venta de comida.
Sin embargo, las artesanías y objetos manufacturados son muy codiciados por los tuneros y visitantes.
Uno de los negocios más longevos y que data de principios de siglo XX, es esta tabaquería. Aquí podemos ver cómo hacen los tabacos a mano. Vale aclarar que, aunque la tabaquería sea de 1926, este oficio se realiza en Cuba desde el siglo 16.
Pero ese será un trabajo para más adelante.
En el parque podemos encontrar varios monumentos, como este a las madres.
El monolito erigido a las víctimas tuneras de las guerras de independencia.
Y, por supuesto, el monumento a Antonio Maceo, de quien toma nombre el parque.
Este es un parque hermoso. El diseño balancea la naturaleza local con los espacios para el descanso y el tránsito de las personas.
Además, está pensado también para que sea utilizado como sede mensual del Jueves del libro y sede semanal de las retretas de la Banda de concierto de la provincia.
Todo aquel que se haya sentado a descansar o haya estado aquí, se debe haber fijado en un detalle muy interesante.
Los bancos del parque están hechos de granito. Pero eso no es lo más interesante, sino que más de la mitad de los bancos fueron donados por negocios, comerciantes o personas de gran relevancia para la provincia, desde la época de la colonia española hasta la actualidad.
Aquí les muestro algunos de ellos.
Ya la mayoría de estos negocios no existen, sin embargo, los bancos continúan aquí, adornando el parque, brindándole confort a los transeúntes y formando parte de la historia de la provincia.
Espero que, cuando pasen por Las Tunas, recuerden sentarse en este hermoso lugar.

Me encanta sentarme en esos bancos. Es uno de mis lugares favoritos. Me trae al recuerdo las paletas de helado que me compro ahí mismo, en esa esquina de la tienda de artesanías.
