BLOG 14: Discover Cebu's Night Beauty: A Stroll Through the Tops of Busay

The Tops of Cebu is one of the most visited tourist spots in Cebu City, it is located in Busay, Cebu City, and provides breathtaking panoramic views of the city, nearby islands, and the glittering shoreline. It offers a clear view of Cebu's urban scene, including the busy cityscape, far-off mountains, and nearby islands like Mactan and Bohol, especially at night and after sunset. This high location is popular for its calm and refreshing ambiance, which makes it a great place to visit both during the day and at night. Visitors may take in the breathtaking view of Cebu City during the day, while at night, the city's lights produce a captivating scene that lends the area a mystical hue.

In this blog, I want to share my experience at the Tops of Busay together with my friends. Take note, it is our first time to go up here since this place has been under renovation for years already.

How to get there?

If you are coming from a location far from IT Park, you need to take a jeep or a bus going to the IT Park Terminal. At the IT Park Terminal, you will see a green bus with a "TOPS" sticker. Sometimes, you may need to wait in line for about 10-15 minutes, depending on the bus availability. While on the bus, you need to pay 200 PHP, which covers both your round-trip fare and the entrance fee to Tops.

This is us riding the bus going to Tops, around 7 PM, I guess. We sat comfortably, and it took about 30-45 minutes from the IT Park Terminal to the Tops of Busay.

When we entered the place, the cold wind splashed against our skin, making us feel chilly. We weren’t prepared because we didn’t expect it to be so cold. Lol!😂 Anyway, the view in the evening was amazing and breathtaking. At that time, there were plenty of people, and the atmosphere had a serene acoustic vibe.

If you're a KathNiel fan, you will surely remember this place. A brief description: Tops is one of the popular spots in Cebu City, featured in the 2013 KathNiel movie “Must Be Love”. After the movie, Tops became one of the top tourist destinations. As a result, many visitors started coming to the place, prompting renovations to make it more attractive and worth visiting. I suggest you watch “Must Be Love” so you can see the difference in the view deck of Tops from before and now.

Back to my Tops experience, I enjoyed every corner of it. Even though renovations are still ongoing, everything is beautiful. We didn't try the food because it was too pricey for us; we just wanted to experience the place, as we love seeing the city lights and the night fog in the area. We took plenty of pictures to give ourselves a sense of satisfaction from our visit to this amazing place.

Nothing beats the first time visiting this place. The vibe and atmosphere are captivating and definitely worth the experience. If you're a lover of city lights and cozy spots, Tops of Busay is a must-visit. I guess the food is also great, but sadly, we were on a tight budget at the moment. Maybe next time I visit, I’ll try the food.

There is a lot of conversation and excitement along the mountain climb as everyone looks forward to the breathtaking sights at the top. If you are planning to visit Tops with your loved ones, I highly recommend going at night. Don't miss bringing a sweater because it gets really cold. Also, you will enjoy the night vibe at Tops, especially during the weekends.

Visiting Tops of Busay is one of the places I’ve always wanted to visit in Cebu City. Ever since I became a KathNiel fan, Tops has been on my bucket list for so long. When this moment finally came, I got to experience what KathNiel experienced before. Sometimes, you become attached to destinations that artists feature in their movies. It was all amazing and breathtaking.

To everyone who was planning to visit the Tops of Busay, I strongly suggest this place, if you're searching for a location with stunning views, refreshing breezes, and a calm ambiance. The breathtaking 360 degrees views of Cebu City are incredibly captivating, especially at night or at sunset, whether you're with loved ones, friends, or family. You will be in awe of the enchanted scene created by the glittering city lights below. Take your time, savor the scenery, and allow the allure of this remarkable location to enchant you. It's an unforgettable experience!
