BLOG 7: Northern Cebu: The Birthday Escape by the Sea

There’s always something magical about spending a birthday with the sound of crashing waves and the warmth of the sun on your skin. If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and celebrate in a place that feels like paradise, Northern Cebu has the perfect beach getaway. Whether you're seeking a quiet retreat or an adventure-filled day by the sea, the northern coast of Cebu offers stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a laid-back atmosphere that's ideal for celebrating a special day. In this blog, I will share with you one of the hidden gems in the Northern part of Cebu City which is Majestique Beach Resort located at Catmon, Cebu City.

Majestique View Beach Resort is a roadside getaway offering stunning ocean views. It is popular with locals and budget travelers, particularly for cliff diving, an exhilarating activity where participants leap from a cliff into the deep, clear waters below. People showcase various diving tricks from the diving boards and demonstrating their skills. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, there's a swimming pool filled with ocean water right next to the diving area. The pool is shallow enough for kids to enjoy as well.

Cottage B – ₱ 1,000 good for 6 persons w/ a nice view
Videoke Cottage – ₱ 2,500 good for 10-15 persons w/ exclusive use of karaoke
Table and Chairs – ₱ 350 good for 4 persons

My friends decided to have a small getaway by the beach since two of my friends are celebrating their birthdays in the same month. I suggested to make it happen at Majestique Beach Resort sice I went there last 2022 and I am still amazed of the relaxing view, which is their first time time visiting the northern part of Cebu to explore the beauty of the sea. From Cebu City, we traveled for 1-2 hours to reach Majestique Beach Resort since it was traffic that time.

As we arrived at the resort, the view was breathtaking. The sound of the waves and the cool breeze touched our skin. It was very quiet and peaceful. Luckily, it wasn't too crowded at that time. We were so happy because we rented an area near the videoke station, as one of the birthday celebrants is a singer. Sadly, we couldn't use it because it was still under maintenance at that time.

As we settled in, we prepared a lot of food. We decided not to order takeout; instead, we cooked together to strengthen our bond. We have spicy lechon manok, we made sinugbang bangus, sinugbang baboy, pancit bihon, kinilaw na bulinao, and some fruits. We also had mojitos, which were the highlight of our day, lol😂! And most of all, we bought one of Catmon's delicacies, the authentic bibingka, which was very delicious.

After we cooked and prepared the food, we started to eat. We couldn’t help it, everything was so good and delicious. Diet? No more! It was wonderful eating with a great circle of friends, and the view was amazing and relaxing. We enjoyed every dish we ate, and we had so much fun eating with our bare hands. It felt like we were free, escaping from reality.

After we ate, we decided to go down and swim. The water was very cold, and the waves were too strong. However, the water was so clear that we saw a school of fish. Every corner of the beach was instagrammable. The ocean pool was great, and we enjoyed chatting as well. That's when we started drinking, swimming, and, of course, diving, since there was a designated diving area.

When everyone started feeling tipsy and tired from swimming so much, we went back to our cottage to eat again. One of my friends remembered that he had a speaker in his car, so he got it, and that’s when we started jamming to all the music we played. We teased each other and had so much fun.

While the boys were having so much fun drinking and eating, the girls, on the other hand, decided to take pictures on the shore. You know, girls always manage to get the perfect photos by the beach. And of course, I have mine too!

The picture beautifully captures the essence of a perfect day at the beach, where the sun's golden rays paint the sky in warm hues as they dip toward the horizon. The strong waves roll gently onto the shore, creating a soothing rhythm that seems to calm the soul. It's a snapshot of serenity, a reminder of the simple beauty and peace that nature offers in these quiet, coastal moments.
