And once again, as previously mentioned, this trip was nothing but an absolute disaster since the very beginning. As all my so thoughtfully organized plans literally went south, while I was in Chiang Mai, on my 2nd day, I sort of took it easy. After a very productive day-tour on the first day, I sort of did not really have much to do on the 2nd day or somehow I actually forgot what I wanted to do. Even when I was going to sleep, I did not even set an alarm and decided to just finally take a long sleep until I wake up naturally. Certainly, I woke up right before the free-breakfast finishing-time and barely got some bread & butter. Oh right, last night I did ask for some suggestions from the hostel folks, and they provided some like cooking classes, water park, or adventurous activities like water rafting, bungy jumping.
I did hope to do the bungee jumping during my initial plan, however, after all those massive disasters I was in a dilemma whether I should spend such a good lump-sum, which is certainly not a waste but sure is unaffordable for me. They said there is this playground, about 30 km away from Chiang Mai city, which offers such activities.
After eating breakfast and lazing a bit, I messaged them and they actually immediately replied that I can do bungee jumping whenever I go before 5 PM. Upon acquiring such an opportunity and the possibility of my long-dreamt desire for that pushed me to give it a try after dilly-dallying about an hour or so!
Upon arriving at the center, I registered and drank a coffee, as they said they just need 15-20 mins to make me ready and I can take my sweet time before that. The X-centre was the name, which was not situated in a very natural environment. particularly for bungy jumping, which I realized when I was standing on the edge of the jumping point. It is just roads, cars, dry land, and all...anything but natural.
Regardless, I decided to go for it. And when they were making me ready, I never for once felt unsafe about the gears, the folks were really cool too.
However, bungee jumping is, as you perhaps can imagine, a complete free fall of 50 meter. I did not really think much until I actually stood on the edge and about to jump.
For the first time, I felt fear. The instructor was counting numbers and I stopped him, as embarrassing as it sounds. He asked me if I wanted a push, but I refused that too!!
It is certainly extremely difficult to explain what I was really feeling, which I would not say fear, but a default caution mechanism from the brain was activated, telling me not to do this.
But I did anyway!!
I never rode a roller-coaster but I did some daring things in my life before, for instance, I jumped into a heavy waterfall and was almost buried to death!
But damn to all of those, just falling down with air for about 5 seconds felt eternity! Not bragging, my heart and brain were in absolute mess, but mann I started enjoying right away! After the free fall, then started hanging on the rope and being moved back and forth, up and down!! It was perhaps a total of 2 minutes but absolutely felt like just a few seconds!!
Well, I almost forgot how it exactly felt now, and do remember a bit of traced-emotion when I watched the video, but I do remember one thing that I absolutely went for it again upon a later chance!
I am not addicted to any drugs, not even liked one during a full-on party environment, but certainly I realized adrenaline-rush has been my addiction that I was not aware of before!
