Hello guys!🌳
I want to told you about our trip to little Cerinski vir waterfall. So, we thought about where we should go for a little trip in nature to refresh our souls. I looked on Google about hiking paths on Samoborsko mountain and found this path to the Cerinski vir. There where few paths on Samoborsko mountain, but for this trip we decided to go here. For the first part we needed to go for a 50 minutes car ride to the village Smerovišće. We left our car on a parking spot and started to climb to the Cerinski vir.

It was cloudy when we started walking but the wind was very warm, it looked like it would rain but luckily didn't. We passed few houses and it seemed like no one lives there.

img_0.09890738459608944.jpg

As we were walking we saw a lot of very known species growing from the soil in any color you want.

Spring Pea showing us her purple and blue flowers.

This is the plant we don't know the name, but it look very interesting and also have this small white flowers. 😍

img_0.038109182409959814.jpg

Yet again we saw a spotted salamander relaxing in water in some canal. The contrast between the black color and the yellow dots look so cool.

img_0.5104567602226776.jpg

On our way we saw this cute cottage. It seems that someone takes care of it since it's very clean all around it too.

img_0.9964290839858023.jpg

This flower look so artistic, it is called Common Hepatica ( Hepatica nobilis L.). The light purple color is so cute.

img_0.18752846892123207.jpg

The forest woke up but not to the fullest yet. Some trees still wait to grow leafs in case of cold days that might still come.

img_0.9083898791694507.jpg

There was a bunch of abandoned cottages and the bushes and weed started to overgrow some of them. This one below have this unstable stairs.

img_0.04332366689044621.jpg

img_0.6616469726897948.jpg

The purple one is Carpet Bugle ( Ajuga reptans L.). This species is very common in all parts of Croatia.

The view on hills. All this types of green color look so interesting on these hills.

img_0.07265772998861385.jpg

The view photo was taken from this wooden bridge that we needed to pass. On the other side you can see the abandoned car I guess, there was no registration on car. 🤔

img_0.47662050659513366.jpg

While walking we could hear all the birds singing and insects flying around. It is amazing how the forest feel so different in spring, so lively. 🌱🌳

img_0.0657731825858476.jpg
This is Germander Speedwell ( Veronica chamaedrys L.). We saw her mostly everywhere in small groups.

img_0.22878371570020153.jpg

Another abandoned cottage. Dominik and I were thinking how is such a shame that there are so many abandoned cottages, because this area of the Samoborsko mountain look amazing. It would be great to spend a weekend in cottage here.

img_0.7126380269325905.jpg

img_0.736829751741074.jpg

When we entered this area we noticed that there where less trees. There was this species with interesting branches.

img_0.17998302230525953.jpg

I don't know the name of this species but I think it belongs in genus Euonymus.

img_0.6828217512583873.jpg

img_0.9943079242843.jpg

This Common spruce doesn't look good, I don't know what happend to it but i think these holes are made by birds. Almost all bark has fallen of in bottom part.

img_0.9533516923638552.jpg

White flowers reminds me of a butterfly wings, also these flowers are quite small. These species is common for beech forests and is called Trefoil Cress ( Cardamine trifolia L.)

img_0.06206739848986523.jpg

Unlike the Trefoil Cress with tiny flowers, these species have as you can see big yellow bright flowers. They are called Kingcup ( Caltha palustris L.) and they mostly grow in habitats next to water. The english name is cool for this plant, it really looks like with size and color of a flower they are kings ( you can't miss it while walking by them).

img_0.6449304308487427.jpg

While walking we came to the next wooden bridge. The sight on a natural stream really gives me a peaceful feeling. The water was very cold and clear.

img_0.42537763961012914.jpg

img_0.6425699515683505.jpg

Little further we noticed the Helleborus atrorubens Waldst.et Kit., I couldn't find the english name in a book, and the ones on internet didn't make sense really, but I found the german name and it is Schwarzrote Nieswurz. This species is known only in these parts of Europe and is called illyrian-balkan element and is protected species.

img_0.20271642594577927.jpg

This one we saw all over our way it is called Alternate-leaved Golden Saxifrage ( Chrysosplenium alternifolium L.). This species is very common for this areas and have this yellow-green color.

img_0.9424490249759991.jpg

We noticed that there are a lot of old trees collapsed down the slopes or path. This is really amazing to see but also dangerous during the storms and strong winds.

img_0.4875600072238588.jpg

As we were near the Cerinski vir we noticed the tree full of some species od fungi or lichen.

img_0.20396676539305236.jpg

I don't know what caused the huge population of these species here because it grow only here on this fallen tree, I didn't saw it anywhere else.

img_0.21112501858826727.jpg

Finally, we came to our main destination. It is a 10 meters high waterfall Cerinski vir. The name of a stream is Javorec. It was found in 1927. by Croatian Mountaineering Association.

img_0.6618544708655605.jpg

It was amazing to walk next to this little stream all the way to the little waterfall and see the natural stream going through the stones and all other obstacles, also the plants growing all around and inside the stream and waterfall.

img_0.17526103869438542.jpg

Of course this type of natural stream is rare to see, because a lot of big rivers are regulated by Croatian waters and these forests streams are natural gems. I really like these natural streams because you can't see these many species and trees in regulated streams because of land-mower.

img_0.04925650472410009.jpg

This sight look like from fairytale. It seems that the soil is giving the space to stream to flow so there could be this much biodiversity. If there are no water (in any shape) than there are no forests right?🌳🌼

img_0.6336727095437517.jpg

It is interesting to see how many species of ferns, mosses and ivy hanging from the stones and soil that shapes the waterfall. They usually grow in very humid habitats.

img_0.2372506249183123.jpg
Closer look on waterfall.

We spend some time here sitting on wood and talking, we also ate everything we bought in bakery for trip. The sound of water dynamically falling gave us an incredibly feeling of fresh air in our lungs, so we spent few minutes just breathing and enjoying the moment.

img_0.8037573131418074.jpg

I took this photo on a part of decaying wood. The wood was about 20 centimeters above water. Well, what caught my eye from the distance is the shape of this lines and all colors of brown on it, making it very mystic to watch.

This fern is Common Polypody ( Polypodium vulgare L.) and is common in northern temperate zone.

img_0.5739059526975092.jpg

We spend some time watching the plants or look for interesting holes or diseases on trees or plants.
After we spend some time near the waterfall, we decided to go above the waterfall. There is a path that goes next to the waterfall but the inclination is quite huge.

img_0.14526646924427156.jpg

We climb to the one part of the path were you can see above the waterfall. We sat there for a moment and decided to go back because we wanted to go on a lunch in a restaurant.

img_0.02939642323951639.jpg

img_0.2755303809167003.jpg

Sometimes this steep terrains can make me dizzy, to be honest I was a little bit scared in beggining of the climbing above the waterfall, but after few meters I get used to this terrain.

img_0.9554326804531162.jpg

When we got down we again took few shots of plants.

img_0.22067918308650825.jpg

This is Scopolia ( Scopolia carniolica Jacq.).

img_0.45430046474256075.jpg

There are a lot of white flowers around and some species really look like another. From the distance I thought it was a Wood Anemone but it was Rueleaved Isopyrum ( Isopyrum thalictroides L.)

img_0.07414617951651267.jpg

On our way back we saw these ants next to the path, there was like a thousand of them, Dominik took a photo of them.

The fruits of Common Ivy.

On the photo below you can see the leaf and little flower of a Spineless Butcher's-broom ( Ruscus hypoglossum L.)

When we came down we went in one restaurant in village Smerovišće.
