Somerset is one of the hidden gems of Singapore that anyone should visit to check on the trendy stuff in the city. Basically, this is the place where the younger generations hang out.
Itās located beside Orchard area but thereās a distinction when it comes to the vibe of the place.
One of the cool things that I noticed outside of the MRT station is a skating park. It looks like that this spot also allows urban street art. In a city where strict regulations against vandalism or street-art, itās a relief that there places like this that serves as an oasis for street artists.
I think that these kinds of spot in the city has added a nice vibe in the area.
A little pigeon chilling under the shade.
How is this bench? I guess nobody will sit on this bench during the warmest hours of the day so might as well use it to collect solar power. Nice!
During my walk along the Somerset area,I noticed that thereās another youth oriented park situated at the center. Around the park is The Red Box which is a place where young locals may volunteer.
Another cool feature in this park is the repurposed āThe Red Busā. In case youāre wondering about the color red, Singapore is known as the Red Dot š“.
City Hardcore!
Itās already lunch time and the walk made me feel hungry so I went to Cineleisure Mall to try the food at Taiwan Night Markets!
One of my favorite Taiwanese food is the Braised Pork Rice so this stall immediately caught my attention. I ordered the basic or ala carte meal which costs S$5, a good deal considering that the location is at the city center.
I like the chosen tables and chairs for this food court, it feels clean and modern.
The shiny surface reflect the color lights or lanterns on the ceiling.
For my drink, I went to Charlie Charlie to try a mix that is rare, local Coffee blend and then I added Brown Sugar Pearls! I like it šÆ.
My drink costs me S$4.70, itās quite expensive for a local coffee but itās worth it if you are a Kopi & Boba lover š .
Total cost for my lunch is S$9.70, it may not be the most cost effective but itās a nice food experience to try.
The braised pork uses the skin which felt and taste like a savory jelly because of the cooking method, I liked it!
The blend of sauce is so good. Itās not salty at all. I can taste a hint if sweetness. The egg was cooked to my preference.
Itās nice that they added fermented vegetable which added to the interesting flavor to this dish.
I like the rice that they used, short and rounded. Itās the same rice used by Japanese or Korean style restaurants.
Hereās a last snap of my own blend of drink. I enjoyed this and will definitely come back to try the food here in the Taiwan Night Markets š».
The skating park with urban street art is a cool find, and it's great that such places exist as creative hubs for street artistsš
Indeed! Itās a beautiful contrast among the modern highrise buildings surrounding it.
I went there once but have not tried the food there.
These ones that I tried are good considering the price.
I came here too early, majority of the stalls are not ready. I was thinking of getting the Sweet Potato ball but they are still preparing š
Oh, that sounds interesting.
So creative place you show us by the way I enjoy too the food market, the pork looks good šÆšÆ
Indeed. The bright colors of the food stalls is captivating.
Beautiful market, I really like seeing the skate board place in the middle of the city, it's very aesthetic
Indeed. I feel lucky to discover this spot just by walking around the city.
Yay! š¤

I studied in Taiwan for one semester, I miss the night markets there! Might check this one out when I make it to Singapore next time - though there is a lot of great food to try in Singapore.
