Rymill Park opportunity

Don’t wait for the right opportunity: Create it.

George Bernard Shaw

I woke up to a really lovely message this morning; I smiled and felt pretty grateful to the person who sent it, also humbled that a person would think so highly of me to send such a touching message. It was a nice way to wake up and it set the tone for the rest of the day which promised to deliver some pretty awesome spring weather to my corner of the world. I had a mission today, nothing too serious but one I couldn't avoid, so I deployed.

Today's mission was a visit to my specialist-surgeon at her city office.

Some may recall I had an operation in June and last week had some complications that sort of flared up out of nowhere causing severe pain and more than a little concern. I high-tailed it to the hospital and she took a look by ultrasound for any serious issues then declared the G-dog good to go, after some injections and writing out a prescription.

Things have been improving since but the area is still painful; tolerable though.

I had a follow-up appointment made and today was it, just to check the situation and make sure I wasn't going to keel-over and die. I think the reason is the specialist-surgeon must have a payment coming up on her prestige car though, she's not shy when it comes to charging.

As I drove to the city I was thinking about how I could squeeze some value from the day; I'm not one to enjoy the city much however if I had to be there I figured I'd find something enjoyable to do and I found just the thing.

A walk in Rymill Park

Rymill Park is located to the east of the city, right on the fringe and is a nice little spot to find some peace close to the central business district. The East End of the city is a funky mix of high-end fashion boutiques and trendy cafés but those places rarely hold any interest for me. I'm more interested in the park, the natural setting, and today, a beautiful spring day, it shone like a gem! Thanks Rymill Park, you delivered!

This park, and the adjacent Victoria Park Racecourse, formed the centre-piece for the Australian Formula One Grand Prix between 1985 and 1995 which was regarded as one of the best street circuits on the race-calendar. The annual event attracted hundreds of thousands of people to the track including myself and I used to take my little brother @tarazkp also. He was a little tacker back then; kind of cute but mischievous looking. I don't what happened to him but now...Not so cute I guess. Age does that.

Today there were no race cars; just ducks, birds, filtered city noises and a few humans like me.

I wandered around for about an hour walking fairly briskly and then meandered a little for another thirty minutes. I stopped to watch a few students making a film on their smart phones, had a chat and then moved on to watch a few chaps playing disc golf on the course that meanders around Rymill Park; If you've not seen it you should check it out as it looks like good fun.

Rymill Park hosts many events over the year including the world-renowned Adelaide Festival and the Australian International Three-Day Event together with a multitude of smaller events like fun-runs, solar vehicle challenges, color-runs, Easter egg hunts, Christmas events, cultural events and celebrations, teddy bear picnics and just about everything else. It's also a cool place for families to picnic on the weekends or for G-dog's to wander prior to doctors appointments.

Adelaide, my home town, is a very liveable city of around 1.2 million people. It's easy to get around and is surrounded by extensive parklands. This, the cosmopolitan nature of it and an agreeable climate, make it a very cool place to live. Sure it has its challenges, like most cities, but days like today make that acceptable. I took the opportunity to make the most of my day in the city and the city helped me do it with some help from the weather.

I hope y'all have had a great week so far and are prepared for the back end, the run into the weekend. Enjoy your Thursday folks.

I have to thank @joanstewart for reblogging this and putting it on my radar. That thumbnail picture is gorgeously eye-catching - I swear I can smell the fresh spring breeze just by looking at it. Funny juxtaposition as well, since I currently have the muggy gross New England autumn air that thinks it's still summertime crisp fall air wafting through the window next to me as I type this.

Sorry to hear you've had some health issues, and I hope they clear up soon, before your specialist-surgeon decides she needs a boat to go with her car.

Hi Traci, thanks for your comment. Joan is a champ and reblogs a post now and then for which I've very grateful.

Spring is a good time here. In truth our winters are quite mild, no snow, and winter days can be stunning. But spring is my favourite time of year. Days that look like yesterday (another today indeed) and that certain scent in the air...Ok, hayfever too, but still, I love it.

Days like yesterday, wandering about in the park are nice although I prefer a more secluded hike-situation. The opportunity was there though and so I took it.

Thanks for your kind words, I'm ok; tough as old nails. A bit rusty is all and when you get to my age, (167), you'll understand. I smirked at your surgeon needs a boat comment. Let's hope not! 😊

You're very welcome, @galenkp and I agree - @joanstewart is amazeballs both here and on Twitter with all of her support and sharing.

Yeah, our weather isn't quite so... mellow. Did you ever hear the (alleged) Mark Twain quote, "If you don't like the weather in New England now, just wait a few minutes."

I'm a fan of the solitary stroll thing myself, so I hear you. Glad you took this opportunity though.

Oh, and I might be able to match you on the rust...LOL! To put it in perspective, my husband and I will be celebrating our 32nd anniversary next month... 😄

New England sounds like Melbourne. If you don't leave the house dressed for all four seasons you're ill-prepared.

We'll done on 32 rusty years! We'll, they probably weren't all rusty. Anyway, nothing wrong with a little rust. Shows character.

If and when we get everywhere always good to interact @traciyork good company.

Our weather is topsy turvy one day hot next cold, oh the wind inbetween!

Solitary strolling I don't even know what that means here, days are so long gone it is but a mere figment of the imagination.

Congrats on the 32 still a long way of rusting to get through, our next is 46, sell by date long overdue. 🙃 keep going strong!

Lol, sell by date long overdue! 😂

Psst.... Didn't say whose! 😹🙌

Time well spent visiting the park in Spring, escaping the city is my kind of thing so parks a good second best when having some time to kill.

Hope the aches and pains dissipate soon, got hiking to do G-dog, the bush is calling loud and clear!

Have a great day and keep smiling.

@tipu curate

Oh yeah, the bush is calling my name for sure! The good thing is that walking/hiking isn't really affected; in fact it's recommended provided I don't over do it. So, I can walk, and I do. :)

Thanks for your support Joan, I am always grateful.

Echoing call is loud here too, good to hear the walking/hiking will not be an issue, keep planning outings and enjoy!

Seeing those city parks, how clean they are knocks the socks off me reminding me of days when ours used to look as good!

Always only a pleasure to support great content.

Seeing those city parks, how clean they are knocks the socks off me reminding me of days when ours used to look as good!

Oh yeah, it's pretty sweet huh? We do that pretty well in Australia to be honest. There's problems, like anywhere else but overall it's a pretty legit place to live.

Definitely pays off when people appreciate nature, live clean lives!

Sorry, but I laughed when you said he's not that cute anymore because of age.

Time passed so fast that a lot of technologies are running these days. Unlike before as you said, ducks, humans and...but still it looks a wonderful place to have a rest or some walking. By the way, beautiful images.

Don't be sorry mate, it was supposed to be funny. 😀

I had a nice day today wandering about in the sunshine. It was about 19 degrees and the air in that park was nice and fresh. One could almost forget one was literally in the capital city of my State.

Yeah, I could tell how lovely the weather was when you were there. By the way, I didn't see people in the images. Is everything going back to normal over there?

Yeah, everything is back to normal. In the middle of the working day the park is fairly empty as most are at work.

Ah, yes—slow.

Everything I just consumed is nothing like the rest of the world wants me to believe Australia is currently experiencing.

Good morning!

Lol...Yeah her in Adelaide we're pretty good. Sydney and Melbourne are fucked though. Melbourne even had an earthquake yesterday, just for good measure.

Morning mate...21:10 here...Still away of course. The night is but young.

:Warning: Seems I had a smidgen better than decent time with this one Galen cuz I just kept bla bla bla bla bla and even attached a frikkin YouTube clip.

I heard about that. That reminds me, damn TV's!

We went out to dinner last night. When we go out somewhere like that I won't face my back to the door. Well dammit, that meant I had the face a TV! When my eyes would wander away from Pura or the sushi or back to Pura again, they'd inadvertently sneak peaks at the TV. I couldn't even hear the thing but with each glance I'm like MAKE IT STOP!!!

• Earthquake
• Haitian refugees
• That Florida manhunt for "Gabby's" fiancée
• Senior citizens are most likely to fall for a scam
• Pregnant women should avoid vaccination
• Some shit about a dude named Bidden (sp?)
• Jay-Z to be the first black NFL team owner
• Repeat

You see what happens is, then I can't sleep. Like last night I had a dream Snow White wanted the evening to herself so she turned all 7 dwarfs into fat little bastard mascots with sledge hammer arms and they went around town destroying all the TV's in gyms and restaurants and waiting rooms and department stores.

When we go out somewhere like that I won't face my back to the door. Well dammit, that meant I had the face a TV!

I never face my back to the door or glass windows either; a habit I picked up sometime back. But facing a TV...The news! Hmm, maybe in that case I'd make an exception.

Hey G-Dog.

What lovely scenery you have there! It's really green and pretty. Knowing you like the green, blue & yellow, these shots are great.

I'm glad to hear that your surgeon is happy regarding your recovery, sorry that you still have pain though.

Between the botanical garden and the greenbelts, seems like a lovely place.

Have a great night Galen

Cheers
Andy

Hi andrastia, thanks for dropping in. Yes, it was a nice little wander and a pretty good setting. It was warm under the sun too which was nice after some rather poor weather we've had over the last week or so. It was a nice little unexpected moment and I'm glad tlI made the time. Adelaide is a reasonably nice. Itt in which to live. I'm lucky.

Enjoying spring is such a beautiful park is wonderful thing to do do after a doctors appointment and physical and mental stress. Thanks for sharing it with us too. Gorgeous.

It was a really nice walk and I was happy to have seen very few people there. Oh, I saw a couple koala bears in the eucalyptus trees in a more secluded section though. Funny little buggers. I actually meant to our that in my post but forgot. To much spring air you know. 😬

That is a nice and peaceful looking park.

Yep, right in the city too, but far enough from the high-rises that the work-slaves don't go there at lunch time.

The park is really beautiful and a nice place to escape from the busy world

It sure is.

Damn this park looks awesome! Sounds like it’s a fun place to go as well.

Looks like old Bibbity Bobboty boop is at it again huh? Hopefully she puts the stuff on a silver platter at least!

Lol, yeah she's doing some doctor-magic and I'm hoping it works; been in some pain. Still, someone has to pay for her Mercedes. 😭

So beautiful park and amazing photography ❤️🦋

Yeah, it's a pretty little place and so close to the city. A nice green patch between all the concrete.

I don't what happened to him but now...Not so cute I guess

There's some personalities that seem to just stay cute to matter how old they get XD

Lol...Yeah, the G-dog and tarazkp ain't two of them.

Yeh you are XP

Lol...Ok, I'll not argue with your expert assessment.

G-dog bows in deep gratitude for the compliment. [And has to stay down for a while as his ancient hips have now seized up.]

Hi there. I took a look at your account and noticed you've posted nothing except a few fairly generic comments which your mate nanggroe1 has upvoted; every single one. It looks like you have a little thing going on which isn't really legit. I could be wrong of course but until I know either way I've returned the rewards back to the pool.

Behaving in ways that seek to remove rewards from the reward pool through little scams and voting-rings is not considered in the best interest of the community. I also had a look at your mate nanggroe1's account and see he went on a spate of commenting then voted his own comments and that's not legit either.

Thanks for your comment, you'll be seeing more of me on your comments in the future.
