Hello, Hivers! I decided to take a short walk in Northern Bulgaria. This time my end point was Kapinovski waterfall and the monastery of St. Nichola.

Both attractions are located about 20 km from Veliko Tarnovo and are among the most visited especially during the summer season. The road there is picturesque and suitable even for a car.

Right at the beginning of the area there is a parking lot where you can stop your car. In the immediate vicinity there is an area for campers and caravans, and in summer it is full of tourists from all over Bulgaria and the world. A narrow path leads us to the waterfall of the same name, which is located on the Veselina River. In the summer, it is full of people who spend their holidays by the cold waters of the Veselina River. As you can see in the picture below, even now there were sunbathers.

However, we decided to continue to the monastery, which we knew had been destroyed during the Turkish rule and rebuilt later. Right at the entrance we were greeted by one of the nuns who showed us around the holy monastery.

As the sign hanging on the front door of the monastery says: it was founded in 1272 during the reign of king Constantine Assen. It was burnt down during the Turkish rule and rebuilt in 1835. In the monastery were staying the troops of Philip Totyu, captain grandfather Nikola and others. In addition, the monastery was a refuge for the most famous revolutionary - vasil Levski. During the Russo-Turkish war the whole monastery complex was used as a hospital.

I recommend you to visit this amazing place. :)
