A couple of weeks ago, I decided to become a child again for just a day. I took a trip to Park Vega Waterpark in Agbor Local Government Area of Delta State with a couple of friends to escape the daily stress of the nine-to-five. We just needed a place to unwind and relieve the tension that has accumulated around us at work.
The water park is said to be the largest in West Africa and is one of the popular tourist destinations in Delta State. It is a privately owned waterpark and the only international standard waterpark endorsed by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) and the World Waterparks Association (WWA). The really fun thing about the park is that there are a lot of different attractions, slides and pools.
We went there on a Saturday as that was the only free time we had together. We left at about 9:30 am in the morning as the opening hours are 10 am - 6 pm and the park was about 45 minutes away as we were just in a neighbouring town. The journey there eventually took about one hour and we arrived at 10:30 am. Transportation for one person cost about 3,000 naira (approximately $4.5).
Entry tickets into the park cost 10,000 naira per person (approximately $15). After getting our tickets and heading in, we were provided with lockers to put in our personal belongings, each with a unique combination code. We hit the showers immediately and changed into our swim trunks in the changing rooms. But of course, before that, we took some pictures for the gram.
After showering and getting changed into our swimming trunks, the first place we hit was the slides. There were a lot of slides we were actually confused about which one to ride first.
We decided to go with the Aquatower first as it looked quite interesting and wasn't so high. A lot of them were scared of heights, but I wasn't. So, I had to be the brave one in the group ;).
The Aquatower is basically a fun city for children which brings me to my point. It is fitted with 4 gently sloping waterslides, a tipping bucket, bubbler jets, umbrella jets, water guns, water wheels, pipe falls, a net bridge, a net climber etc. There's a lot to do here if you're looking to become a child again.

Next, we went to the Space Hole Slide. This waterslide is one of my favourites. It is actually not meant to be used by children and had a minimum height requirement of 120cm as it might be dangerous. And trust me, it was pretty scary. You had to slide down a series of twists and turns before being thrown into a jumbo bowl and then lunged into a pool. This slide is so much fun and it sure got the adrenaline flowing.

By this time, we were all already very hungry. We went to the restaurant to order some food - basically chicken and chips, shawarma and fruit juice.
After devouring our meals
After eating, I definitely had to rest a little so I just lounged for a little while by the poolside.

After resting for a while, it was already past noon and the sun was up and shining fully. It was time for the real thrill. We went to try out the next set of slides. There were 3 slides built into one very high platform but each of the slides was completely different and each gave a unique kind of thrill.

Going down the Freefall Slide
The first slide I tried out was the Freefall Slide. The Freefall slide gives riders a momentary feeling of weightlessness. It is a perfect recipe for those who appreciate adrenaline. I went down this slide multiple times. There's just something absolutely thrilling about coming down on a free fall and not feeling the weight of your body anymore.
The stop is also so abrupt as your body hits the water below that feels like coming to a quick halt in a speeding car as the water splashes all over.
I took multiple turns alternating it with the Blackhole Wave Combo Slide. This slide was remarkably fun to experience. It had a steep drop that takes riders up a nearly vertical wall for a moment of weightlessness before they are swish-swashed down to the shutdown lane. You are also supposed to ride this on an air-filled raft and the minimum height requirement is also 120cm.
There was also the Multisurf Slide but this was pretty much basic and I didn't enjoy it that much.

Jaja.
Next up, we hit the pools. The park had different kinds of pools including a large wave pool with actual waves. That's too long to put into this post however and the plenty of pictures will get cluttered. So, watch out for the second part of this post. Haha.
