Hi Everyone!
Another day, another piece of me! :)
We cannot escape the past, either through personal memories and experiences, culture, and environments. It's part of our lives. The moment you read the first word of this blog is already part of the past. What you did a minute ago is the past.
But, past is not a bad thing. In reality, it is a beautiful part of us especially in places which show the past of the country. And since I love traveling, I visited one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines, the Vigan City.
This city is famous for its Spanish Colonial town. And because of its beauty and charm, it is recognized as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Most of the houses in Vigan City are two storey structures that are built of brick and wood. The windows are made of panels of kapis shells framed in wood which can be slid back for ventilation and natural light.
This city is also known for the its particular grid street pattern made of cobblestones and clattering kalesa (horse-drawn carriages). If you want a first hand experience of the past, just call for a "kutsero" (Spanich cochero) and he'll give you a tour through the streets especially in Calle Crisologo.
Once you are done roaming the streets, you can always try their delicacies in one of the restaurants. You can also buy and bring home handcrafted souvenirs.
Once everything returns to normal, I will surely visit again this place.
