Location:
Barangay Biga is the 5th Barangay in Municipality of Lugait, Misamis Oriental. This place is located near at the coastal areas and also near at the National road here in Mindanao. The coastal areas is not really quite far from crowded places but it is still very peaceful and relaxing because of the cool and refreshing coastal areas. From Barangay Poblacion Manticao, Misamis Oriental it needs to travel at about 20 or 30 minutes, depends on how traffic the road is. From National Highway, it needs to walk a few meters away before we reach the coast.
This Barangay also have a Barangay Road which can be also located near at the coastal areas. This rocky road is also served as a shortcut to all residents here, it can help to all people avoiding from a noisy and crowded place full of vehicles. This Barangay road connects to the other Barangay, the Barangay Punta Silum in Manticao, Misamis Oriental. Near at this road are the big chunk of stones and cliff and some wild plants and trees grows on the top of the cliff.
There are also some valuable plants can be seen and found here, just like this tall coconut trees. This plants was completely leaning towards the sea because of the strong winds happens here. Many great storms happens here that Is why those trees are already leaning. Despite of that kind of problem and scenarios, still some of the trees produces lots of coconut fruits. Those trees grows very old already and a thick of wild grass grows in the place. This areas is also perfect for a camping trip, in fact there are lots of people building tents and spend a night together with their families and friends. Lots of firewoods just like dry coconut leaves palm can be seen and found here, in fact the residents searching for any dried Coconut palm here.
The place contains lots of Natural beauty but as the climate keeps changing, the sea water continues to rise and as of that, a great bad results already happens here just like soil erosions. Some of the coconut trees was already falled down and submerged in the sea water. The soil was keeping eroded everytime when there is a hightide situations. This is the great bad impact about climate change, a lot of changes happens in this place but still very attractive and beautiful.
The coastal areas in Barangay Biga corals but this kind of materials or things is very important to all residents here in terms of hunting or catching fish for food. Every afternoon, there are lots of people went in this place to looked for any sea shells, fish, crabs and shrimps for food. There are lots of big stones and corals can be seen here and some of it contains lots of sea weeds and mangrove trees. Lots of rocks pools every low tide can be seen here at the surfaces.
This place was once a bay walk areas connected in Barangay Punta Silum, but as many year has past as the climate really changes the sea water rises continually and the baywalk was already submerged by sea water leaving this block spots and this one was so called Asphalt used for concreting the road.
Not all parts of the place contains lots of rocks, there are also parts of the place contains lots of sands just like this. Those line marks was created by wave current and we called it sand dunes. It is very fascinating and unique, and this place will also submerged by sea water everytime when there is a high tide occurs.
Near at the coastal area is this old and abandoned concrete staircase. The stair was already covered with wild grass and it is not very easy to see. Some of the stairs was already covered with sands and soil, This place was once a crowded areas but now it is already very quite. Barangay Biga, contains lots of wonderful sceneries and perfect place for adventure.
