š™†š™–š™¤š™š™Øš™žš™Ŗš™£š™œ, š™š™–š™žš™¬š™–š™£. Known as the maritime capital of Taiwan and is famous for its Art Center, Mall, Scenic Area, Beach, Music Center and Outdoor Excursions.

Speaking of beach, Cijin (Qijin) Island will surely come to mind if you are a bit familiar with Kaohsiung.

Cijin Island is home to Tianhou Temple, Wenwu Shengmiao Religious Site, historical Qijin Xingkong Tunnel, Kaohsiung Lighthouse, Qi Jing Beach and Seaside Park.

Hmmm, let's go to Cijin Island!

First, we need to take the train to Kaohsiung station and from there ride bus Orange 1 or 248 going to Gushan Ferry Pier where we can ride a ferry which will take us directly to Cijin Island.

On the way to Kaohsiung station, we can see some water systems at work probably for irrigation.

After arriving at Kaohsiung station we need to have a mandatory picture with the famous Dome of Lights, situated just inside the station! How convenient.

This dome is the world's largest public art installation made from individual pieces of colored glass.

Riding a ferry from Gushan Pier to Cijin Island.

The Cijin Island

We can also see vendors selling some pets and shells for aquarium needs.

The topmost picture and one below is me standing on Cihou Fort overlooking the buildings and the beach below. A view embodying the harmony between progress of modern society and nature's neverending waves of the ocean.

This fort was built in 1720 during the time of Qing Dynasty as a safeguard to the entrance of Kaohsiung Port.

*Some notable landmarks of Cijin Island from Kaohsiung tourism office are the following :

The Gushan-Cijin Ferry

Qijin Tianhou Temple

Qijin Seafood Street

I don't go out much since I strive to save money but I was so glad that sometimes I do. I get to experience a lot of things, have fun memories and see the culture of the place with my own eyes.

I am still new to writing blogs so some of the most important lessons I have learned from this trip is to take a lot of nice pictures and buy sunglasses! I was squainting most of the time because the sun was so bright. Not that I'm really complaining.

By the way if you like my post, I will be so happy if you give me a follow ^_^

Of course, we ended the day by eating a lot of delicious food. Yum yum šŸ˜‹.
