Hola Hivers de Worldmapping. Es la primera vez que publico en esta comunidad, así que espero que mi viaje les resulte atractivo. Les cuento mi experiencia del día de ayer en la Feria Internacional del Libro en La Habana; la capital de todos los cubanos.
Hello Hivers from Worldmapping. This is my first time posting in this community, so I hope you find my trip appealing. I tell you about my experience yesterday at the International Book Fair in Havana; the capital of all Cubans.
El día empezó desde bien temprano, ya que es imprescindible para poder trasladarnos desde el municipio Playa hasta el complejo Morro - Cabaña, que es el lugar donde tradicionalmente se realiza dicho evento literario. Cada año en el mes de febrero, tiene lugar esta gran fiesta en la cual los amantes de los libros encuentran el lugar perfecto para nuevos títulos y la mejor experiencia al encontrarse juntas tantas personas con un interés en común.
The day started very early, since it is essential to be able to move from the municipality of Playa to the Morro-Cabaña complex, which is the place where this literary event is traditionally held. Every year in the month of February, this great festival takes place in which book lovers find the perfect place for new titles and the best experience when so many people with a common interest meet together.
Antes de dejarles saber qué tal fue mi día, les haré un poco de historia sobre el lugar mencionado. El complejo Morro - Cabaña nos quedó como herencia del período en que Cuba fue colonia de España, y tuvimos la construcción de una fortificación militar de este tipo con el objetivo de proteger la ciudad del ataque de corsarios y piratas. Actualmente es sede de eventos, museo y está abierto al turismo tanto nacional como internacional.
Before I let you know how my day was, I will give you a little history about the place mentioned. The Morro - Cabaña complex was left to us as a legacy of the period when Cuba was a colony of Spain, and we had the construction of a military fortification of this type with the aim of protecting the city from the attack of corsairs and pirates. It is currently a venue for events, a museum and is open to both national and international tourism.
Esta edición de la feria es la número 33 y estará sesionando desde el día 13 hasta el próximo 23. Asistimos mi mamá, mi papá, mi tía, mi hermanita, mi mejor amiga @princess23ary y yo. Cuando llegamos aún no habían muchas personas, a medida que fue pasando el tiempo, fueron llegando más personas y el lugar estuvo más concurrido. El país invitado de honor es República de Sudáfrica. El primer stand al que entramos fue el C9, donde se encuentra la Casa Editora Abril, allí encontramos libros infantiles, posters educativos y libros para adultos también.
This edition of the fair is the 33rd and will be in session from the 13th until the 23rd. My mom, dad, aunt, sister, best friend @princess23ary and I attended. When we arrived there were not many people, but as time went by, more people arrived and the place was more crowded. The guest of honor country is Republic of Sudafrica. The first booth we entered was C9, where Casa Editora Abril is located, there we found children's books, educational posters and books for adults as well.
Luego de eso en los pabellones expositivos nos encontramos con las culturas de Arabia Saudita, Guatemala, Viet Nam, Iran y Serbia. Los expositores nos deleitaron con explicaciones fabulosas sobre sus culturas, idiomas, joyas típicas las cuales tuvimos la oportunidad de usar y sacarnos fotos con ellas. Nos hicieron también obsequios como mapas turísticos, libros, marcadores y pequeñas agendas como recuerdo de nuestro paso por su stand.
After that in the exhibition pavilions we met the cultures of Saudi Arabia, Guatemala, Vietnam, Iran and Serbia. The exhibitors delighted us with fabulous explanations about their cultures, languages, typical jewelry which we had the opportunity to wear and take pictures with them. They also gave us gifts such as tourist maps, books, bookmarks and small diaries as a souvenir of our visit to their stand.
Seguimos nuestro recorrido y nos encontramos con las hermosas artesanías que estaban en venta, además de eso con los mini libros, la venta de joyería y bisutería, los puestos de comida criolla y helados, productos naturales para el cuidado de la piel y el cabello y especias para cocinar. En uno de esos puestos compré unos sellos de adorno con temática BTS para mí y para regalar a mi hermanita.
We continued our tour and found beautiful handicrafts for sale, as well as mini books, jewelry and costume jewelry, Creole food and ice cream stalls, natural skin and hair care products and cooking spices. At one of those stalls I bought some BTS-themed ornament stamps for myself and to give to my little sister.
Asistimos a la presentación de dos libros con los autores, quienes nos dedicaron y firmaron los libros.
We attended the presentation of two books with the authors, who dedicated and signed the books.
Entrada la tarde, nos dedicamos más a apreciar la belleza del lugar y a hacernos fotos en lugares específicos de la fortificación mi amiga, mi hermana, mi mamá y yo. Degustamos una merienda y un sabroso café capuchino.
In the late afternoon, my friend, my sister, my mother and I spent more time appreciating the beauty of the place and taking pictures in specific places of the fortification. We enjoyed a snack and a tasty cappuccino coffee.
Y mientras disfrutábamos de la buena música que cada año ofrece el stand de Pinar del Río, conversamos y nos reímos todos juntos. Terminamos con una hermosa foto familiar.
And while we enjoyed the good music that the Pinar del Río stand offers every year, we talked and laughed all together. We ended with a beautiful family photo.
A la salida disfrutamos de la belleza del Sol encima del mar. Intentamos subir al mirador del Morro para contemplar la ciudad entera, pero ya estaba cerrado. Así que habrá que regresar nuevamente para contemplar tal espectáculo de paisaje y crear un post sobre eso como recuerdo del momento.
On the way out we enjoyed the beauty of the sun over the sea. We tried to go up to the Morro viewpoint to contemplate the whole city, but it was already closed. So we will have to go back again to contemplate such a spectacle of landscape and create a post about it as a memory of the moment.
