After my peaceful stay at Lagnason's Place in Oslob, Cebu (If you haven't read it yet, please do feel free to read my previous blog: see blog . Many thanks!), I decided I didn't want to go home yet so I drove away going North to find a different place where I can stay for the night and spend the whole night for myself, experience new things, visit new places and more.
While I was driving, I roamed my eyes to different resorts I get to pass by and decided whether I want to stay there or not. I was looking for an affordable place that is quiet, not too many people and I can enjoy my solitude.
I stopped by at few resorts in Boljoon then to Alcoy but I hadn't found any resort yet that was to my liking. So I just paused from driving and concluded to stop by at Café Malaya in Alcoy since it was already noon and I was already hungry and this café is one of the places I wanted to visit.
The owner of the café was one of my idols back in 2016. She was a content creator in Facebook back then and I really adored her simplicity and wit when creating videos. I am not entirely sure if you know her but her name is Malaya Macaraeg. I was just lowkey idolizing her so the moment she posted on social media that she was already opening a coffee shop, I totally wanted to visit it but was not able to. And this time, I didn't let the chance escape from my bare hands in trying their caramel macchiato and hopefully seeing her in person.
Anyway, let us go back to my quest in finding for a place to stay for the night.
While I was in Café Malaya, I spent my time sipping my coffee and browsing Facebook for any place near me where I can stay and have an incredible solitary experience.
I browsed in Alcoy, then in Boljoon. There was nothing to my liking. Some were too expensive (they're out of my budget) and some were too jampacked with people.
Then I tried to check some resorts in Dalaguete since the town was just few minutes away from Alcoy already.
I was only able to take a photo of the back part of the resort due to some reasons.
I saw this Casay Beach Hut on Facebook. It appealed so relaxing to me and when I saw the pictures of native huts facing the ocean, I can only imagine how I get to enjoy my time feeling the ocean breeze, watching how calm its surface would be and how beautiful the stars and moon are up above while I was lounging in its beautiful huts.
I was done daydreaming and went straight away to where it was located.
I was not informed it was that far from the main road but I didn't care about the distance as long as I get to experience the place and make my imaginations become a reality that instant.
I drove pass the town of Alcoy and the town center of Dalaguete. The Beach Hut was located in Casay, Dalaguete, Cebu.
Barangay Casay was twenty to thirty minutes away from the center of the town. And the Beach Hut was another twenty to thirty minutes away from the highway.
When I arrived at Barangay Casay, I asked the locals where the beach hut was located. They told me the way but one thing is for sure about me, I'm not really good at obeying directions. Maybe the man told me the right way but I was not sure which was the right way.
I just drove and drove until it was like fifteen minutes of driving, I saw a huge gate. It was the end of the road and I thought that was the entrance of the Beach Hut.
But, no.
There was no sign saying "Casay Beach Hut" so I presume that was not it. I asked the security guards on duty and they said that the way to the beach hut was on the other side of the road when I saw an intersection, there was a store there that sells roasted chicken and I had to turn to the right side.
I just nodded and hoped I got his directions correctly. I drove back and tried finding the "Lechon Manok" store the security guard had told me but I hadn't seen any. I just continued driving (fingers crossed) hoping I get to be in my destination already because aside from I was already tired, I also had that call of nature at that time which I really needed to release right away.
The more I was riding my motorbike finding for the right direction, the more the roads had become familiar -- because the roads I passed by were the roads leading to the mouth of the highway where I was thirty minutes ago.
But I didn't give up because I was dying to visit the place and stay there. I asked again some locals of the place and they told me the right way. On my way there, I saw the store for the roasted chicken and I saw that across it, there was a narrow road and that leads to the Beach Hut.
I just laughed at the thought and to myself because why I hadn't seen it earlier?
I was relieved when I thought I was finally on my way to relaxing at the beautiful beach hut. I was just imagining the things I could possibly do there while driving. And I couldn't stop smiling.
Ten minutes...
Fifteen minutes...
Twenty minutes...
Perhaps?
I was still driving.
When will I ever get to my destination?
I was starting to get suspicious that maybe I was lost again so I asked the people beside the road on where Casay Beach Hut is and they pointed me to a farther direction.
I was like, okay. This must be worth the travel and getting-lost-on-the-road stories. I drove again and just followed the road. I was close to success, I thought.
Then, I finally saw the signage "CASAY BEACH HUT". I couldn't contain my happiness. Finally!
This is the way to the Beach Hut from the top of the hill.
I passed by an uneven, steep dolomite road and managed to drive to the top of the hill. I thought the beach hut was located on top of the hill so I parked my motorbike there but there was some woman relaxing on a hammock and told me that the beach hut was below that hill.
So I turned the ignition on and had to pass by another uneven, steep dolomite road on the other side. Only this time I was going downwards.
I was just glad it was not raining that moment for when it had rained, it would be very hard and slippery going on that kind of road.
Now I finally see the light. After parking my motorbike, I saw this spectacular view of the ocean and the islands in front of it. It was so calming. So worth the ride.
I thought my agony would end with those striking views in front of me. But no, there's more.
I had to walk down another steep road going to the huts only to find out it was already FULLY BOOKED.
How luckily unlucky was I at that moment, right?
All of the sweat, the turnabouts, the suffering of my insides wanting to explode, my fantasies of the place -- all of them were replaced with disappointment -- not to the owner or staff of the resort but to myself.
Why hadn't I thought of booking a room first prior to my journey down here? Why hadn't I thought of it?
My face knowing I had to climb back and not able to stay here for the night. (Had to take a screenshot of me climbing from the video I took).
I want to pinch myself because now, I had to climb back the steep stairs, not able to rest and not able to release the "call of nature".
Now, I had to go back and find another place to stay for the night.
That was a mission failed successfully but I wouldn't want my efforts going there be put into waste because I will definitely go back and experience how peaceful and amazing the place could offer me. Maybe not this time yet but hopefully one of these days..

That was a clever post title. I often get lost while traveling, mostly because I get lost in my thoughts or just because of the beauty of a particular place. I love the photo of the ocean and the blue skies. It's a masterpiece that nature let's us see everyday if only people care to look at the sky longer than looking at their phones or tablets. Congrats on your mission. Looking forward to your next post.!PIZZA 🍕
Thank you @juanvegetarian 🤗 it's really true that the ocean and blue skies are nature's masterpieces. I really love looking at them. They are just so soothing and they have the power to calm our chaotic minds.
