From Mountains to Plains we drive 1000km in 15 hours (Dehradun to Jaisalmer Road Journey)

in Worldmappin18 days ago

This incident is not very old, it is from this December and the date was 8 December 2024. I catch a bus from Dehradun to Delhi... In this journey I travel 250 km by bus and it takes me 8 hours to reach Delhi. From Delhi I reach my friend's house who lives in Gurugram. I stay at his house for the night and at 7 in the morning we leave for Jaisalmer. We are going by car and Jaisalmer is 751 km from Gurugram which is going to take us 12 hours to cover.

If I talk about the route, then we will go from Gurugram to Rewari from where we will reach Singhana by taking the Narnaul bypass. Further from Chidawa we will reach Fatehpur via Jhunjhunu, Mandawa from where we will reach Bikaner and then further via Phalodi, Ramdevra and Pokhran we will finally reach Jaisalmer. The route is very long and we are only two people in the car. There is only one problem on such a long journey and that is how much to talk and how many songs to listen to.

After crossing Daru Heda, we stop at Old Rao Hotel where we have breakfast. Rewari is very famous in North India because this land is called the land of soldiers. Out of the whole of Haryana, the maximum number of boys and girls from Rewari join the army. For breakfast we eat aloo ka paratha with hot tea. We left at 7 o'clock and now it is 10:30. Our next target is Narnaul, which we will take by-pass and go straight.

In the next 12 hours we cross Narnaul which is 57 km away from Rewari. I came to visit Narnaul in 2009, then we visited the fort here. Narnaul is an old city which was called Nar in the Mahabharata period. The war of 1857 also took place here. We have an Isuzu car in which Haryanvi songs are playing. The temperature outside is around 22 degrees and the music in the car has kept the temperature warm.

From Chidawa we buy the famous Ghota Laddu. Taking one kilo of Laddu we move towards Singhana. By now we have left Haryana state and entered the border of Rajasthan. By 2 pm we reach Fatehpur where we get down from the car and have lunch. Here we eat Aloo Kachori for lunch. After lunch we get back in the car and start moving towards our destination at a speed of about 80.

We reach Bikaner at 4 pm and cross Pokhran late in the evening at 7 pm. Jaisalmer is 112 km away from Pokhran. The road from here is very well built so it should take us about one and a half hours...by talking like this the song changes and the gear of the car also changes. And thus we reach Jaisalmer at 10 pm. We have been staying at Himmatgarh Hotel in Jaisalmer for many years, so even today we camp there.

After having dinner at night, we quietly go to sleep. Today it takes us 15 hours to reach here. The next day we wake up early in the morning and go to the famous Chowk Hanuman Circle of Jaisalmer and drink tea from Prabhu Tea Stall and let the morning sun touch our skin. Today we will visit Gadisar Lake, Jaisalmer Fort and surrounding areas, about which I will tell in the next posts.

Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Ka Qila, is the only fort in the whole world in which people live. It is built on Trikut Hill and has houses, shops and mansions. Because yellow stone is found in Jaisalmer, Jaisalmer is also called the Golden City. By the way, bags of Jaisalmer are also very famous because they are made of camel skin. In the next posts, I will take you on a tour of Jaisalmer. Till then keep smiling.

Today is the last day of the #winterchallenge organized by @worldmappin. Well, till yesterday I was in the fifth place, let's see what my position is at the end of this challenge. It has become very difficult to participate in #traveldigest, at the end of the challenge all the travelers are writing posts about very beautiful places and it has become a very difficult task for the #worldmappin team to decide which post to give space to and which post to leave.

Greetings. What a great tour through your publication all over Jaisalmer. A few days of sightseeing, hours of travel, trekking and so on, simplified in one review. I quite liked it, it seems to be a very people friendly space from what you comment.

Although I go to Jaisalmer every year but this time was special because I volunteered for a running event here, this place is ancient and yes the people here are very simple and kind.

Thank you for sharing this journey with us, it was truly amazing.
The pictures you provided are really beautiful and full of color, have a nice day.
