It is the second day since I returned from my Tungnath trip and lo and behold, on the very second day, my neighbours surrounded me to take them on a trek today. I had already taken them to every place around the house, so I thought of taking them to Sindhwal village. To reach here, we have to travel 32 kms on a scooter after which we have to hike for about 4.5 kms. I explain the plan to everyone and everyone agrees to it.
We leave at 12:30, there are 4 adults and 2 children on 2 scooters. Starting from Dehradun, we reach Thanon which is 27 kms from home. Here we meet an old friend named Semwal. We stop at Thanon and have lunch and a hot cup of tea. It is already 2:15. Saying goodbye to Semwal, we take the road to Itharna which will take us to Sindhwal village.
Today also I have worn thick clothes like the ones I wore in Tungnath trip. After wearing them I am thinking that I should not have worn these clothes in such hot sun. Today after many days the sun has come out very brightly so it is fun to bask in the sun. We are driving at a speed of 40 on the fields and 30 feet wide road. The road is good at some places and there are potholes at other places which are slowing down our average speed.
After reaching Sindhwal village we park the scooter from where we have to hike 4.5 kms to the top of the village. We will go up the mountain walking along the Song River. This area is a reserve area so trees, forests and wildlife cannot be harmed at some places. Our neighbor has 2 children out of which the younger boy loves me a lot and likes to spend time with me.
After parking the scooter, Vicky, who is a neighbor's child, is with me. He is 3 years old and when he got tired of climbing the mountain, he asked to come in my lap. I put him on my back and start climbing the mountain. The height here is 650 meters and we have to go up to 830 meters. The road is broken on the way, looking here it is clear that the landslide that happened during the rainy season has caused a lot of damage in this area.
While climbing up, we meet a boy from the village whose name is Amit who is going to his home, we talk to Amit, then Amit tells that this is Sindhwal village and if you go up, you will reach Nahi village from where a range of many snowy mountains is visible. We have children with us, otherwise I would definitely not have wanted to see the snowy mountains from Nahi village.
We have reached 3.5 km on foot on the mountain. Amit takes us to his house where he gives us water and invites us for tea. We continue our hike saying that we need to go up quickly and there is less time. Amit has a small puppy named Tom. I am surprised that the dog's name is Billa Wala. Tom is a mountain breed dog which will grow up to be very fierce and loyal.
We reach the top of Sindhwal village at 03:30 in the afternoon. The height here is 830 meters and from here we can see Nahi village, Malkot Caravan, Raithwan village, Kotla, Baderana Majhla, Katkot Khurd, Dharkot, Tamoli village and Haldwari village. Today the weather is good so we can see distant views. Because this is the lower range of Himalayas, neither high mountains nor snow can be seen from here.
After reaching the top, the elders and children had a lot of fun. Vicky and I stayed together the whole way, he never got off my back. I felt good with him and everyone was happy to reach Sindhwal village top. After reaching the top, we talk about how we wish we had brought some food with us, the kids would have liked it but even otherwise the kids had a lot of fun.
Vicky's father asks me where will you take us for hiking next week, to which I reply that I will tell you after reaching home. Right now I don't know where to go because the next week will come in 2025. Today was a good day. We come down safely from Sindhwal village top and get on our scooter and reach home before it gets dark.

Like how they farm the hills. It is always an adventure seeing your posts!
The hill people cultivate the mountain by cutting it in a terraced manner, nowadays mustard is sown in the fields. Getting water, manure and preparing the mountain for cultivation is a challenge in itself.
