Hello, travelers, and community greetings.
As I grew up in a different religious environment, I was familiar with the Roman Catholic Church. However, during my recent trip to Budapest, I discovered many distinct branches within the Catholic faith. This revelation came to me as I observed various churches that reflected the diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds of the communities that built them.
I prefer to avoid religious discussions; instead, I enjoy exploring and appreciating art, culture, and history. Every church in Budapest embodies a rich tapestry of art, culture, and history. I read that there are more than 250 churches in Budapest. But saw a few of them during my travel to Budapest.
Mattias Church
St. Stephen's Basilica.
Church of St.Anne
Deák square Lutheran church.
Szilágyi Dezső Square Reformed Church nice looking architecture
Saint Margit-templom
Today, I am exploring Fisherman's Bastion, which is near Matthias Church and Trinity Square. The main tourist Attraction.
Trinity Square and a Ministry of Finance-building.
Originally this building was used for The Ministry of Finance.
But in between it was used for an old monastery, after World War 2 it was damaged badly so they repaired it and now the finance ministry moved back in this year.
not everywhere is open for visitors.
Trinity Square was built for the celebration of the end of the plague pandemic. The column has nice cute angels (sculptures) and on the top the sculpture of the Trinity. And many sculptures of different saints.
Here we are at Mattias church in Trinity Square.
From the northwest side.
from the north side.
This is a reflection of the church in the Marriott Hotel windows beside the church.
From each direction, the church looks very spectacular and artistic. Amazing!
Fisherman's Bastion
The Fisherman's Bastion from below
The protective wall was built as a viewpoint platform or terrace it is a neo-Gothic style construction and its name refers to the medieval guild of fishermen responsible for defending this stretch of the castle wall.
.
Before we start climbing the stairs the protective wall structure, looks very strong wall.
the stairway to the main entrance
The stairs towards the north side.
The view of Parliament House across the Danube on the Pest side as well as the Calvinist church on the Buda side down close to the river.
View of the town on both sides of the river from halfway.
At the top of the stairs, there are three statues on each side of the arch wall, by the entrance to Fisherman's Bastion and Mattias church.
through this arch, there's a perfect view of the statue of Saint Stephen.
the statue looks different from each side
there is an entrance fee to get inside some sections of the Bastion where there are very good views and photos from the 1st floor. most of the terrace is occupied by restaurants or cafes.
but we decided to climb the Mattias church tower instead of just the few stairs of the Bastion.
all the people are enjoying the river view from this row of arches.
including us
So I got plenty of nice views of Budapest and was very satisfied.
After spending some time there we went the other direction down the hill looking for a vegetarian restaurant.
See you soon with a new day of adventure in Budapest.
Thank you very much :)
