Hello, friends, travelers, and community members. Greetings!
We are currently on vacation, but it isn't exactly relaxing. We're busy organizing many things during our stay here, and the town we live in is quite small for any official work or larger projects.
One of our tasks is to paint our house, and we've been searching for wholesale suppliers. However, simply calling them isn't sufficient; we need to visit in person to find the locations and assess everything, including quality, price, and availability of materials.
With that in mind, I decided to take a bus to Sawantwadi to check out a few shops for potential paint and related supplies.
This is our small bus station where all the passengers are waiting. My husband drove me to the bus station, but my bus left just a few minutes before I arrived. So I had to wait at least half an hour for the next bus.
The transport office.
I was looking around, some college girls were there they might going to the same place. Sawantwadi has many colleges.
Suddenly one puppy came around and started entertaining It was a good distraction to pass the time.
Meanwhile, some buses came and went to other locations.
Finally, my bus arrived.
The bus wasn't full so I got a very comfortable seat behind the driver where I could see the road ahead.
Very narrow roads barelywide enough for two buses to pass and there are 8 more kilometers to a little wider road.
The drivers here must be very clever when another bus or truck comes from the opposite direction. both drivers very cleverly managed to pass.
Eventually we came to the better road, it is a little wider and the surface well maintained but big trucks especially mine supply trucks blocked the road so our driver had to blow the horn all the time in order to overtake. Sitting in the front has a major disadvantage- the horn is very loud.
parts of the road are green and cool.
Incredible India on a main road young people ride two-wheelers side by side talking and blocking the road. no discipline and.not any control.
Entering the town is also very special, cars, bus, people walking two-wheelers and cows. I thought it would be challenging for my husband if he drove on these chaotic roads if we buy materials here.
I got down at the market in the center of the town. The place is nicely located beside the lake.
I went straight to the paint shops and confirmed their rates, availability of the shades we looking for, the quality, etc. After discussing with my husband on the phone I ordered around 100 liters in different colors.
I made a deal with one shop owner he could send it but he said it would be much better if you confirm personally receipt of your order. I promised to return in a few days. I had time to explore the town a little bit before the next bus home. I have been here many times and each time there has been more development.
The municipality does a good job of keeping the center of town clean and organized. many new commercial buildings have been built close to the lake without disturbing nature.
Previously vendors were selling their things whereever there was place to stand along the road but now it is well organized.
I noticed there was an old gas station pump still standing alone reminding everyone of the not-too-distant history.
the art of a local artist was on display near an old Hindu temple.
I Just had time for a couple of photos. When I return with my husband then we can explore the area more.
This place is very famous for its artists and artistic woodwork, especially wooden toys and Ganjifa
My 1 hour time went very fast so I went to the bus station.
And boarded a crowded bus tired, sweaty, and hungry.
in norwegian we say sliten, skitten, and sulten.
Thank you very much.
