Hello Ladies and gentlemen of these prestigious community, season greetings to everyone, wishing you all a wonderful merry christmas and a prosperous happy new year, @hiventhusiast here my first time coming around, hoping to share my #traveldigest experience with everyone here.***
Today i made a trip from the city Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Nigeria, To Port Harcourt, River State. Both State border on the southern part of Nigeria, with shared boundaries and proximity.
It was just approximately 3hours journey from the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Uyo to Port Harcourt which is the capital of Rivers State.
I got up very early payed my way to the park, this is a government owned public transport system, which is a bit comfortable but not like the private ones here,
when i got to the park about to make payment i was surprise to the amount i have to pay for my transport Fare, which is N7'500 ($4.84), this is way bigger than i thought, i still recall just a last year when i paid N3000-3500 ($1.94-2.26) For the same distance, shocked by how expensive things are having to pay more than twice For same distance in less than a year.
Headed towards the bus parking lot, got there, the first bus already filled, so i have to wait up another 30 min.
Before this coaster bus drove in, we were all ask to go in, those with Ticket number 108/109 that is like passengers for two different buses, since this was a Coastal bus, it Could merge the two set of passengers.
We moved at around 9:33 am CAT. drove through the city centre passed through Abak one of the LGA's (Local Government Areas) in Akwa Ibom state, then we drove through Aba, another southern state in Nigeria, drivers often love to use this route instead of following the direct Akwa -Ibom/ Rivers state route, if in that case from Akwa Ibom state drive through Abak then through ogoni Road, (ogoni is an LGA in Riverstate shared boumdary with Abak LGA in Akwa ibom state, but drivers usually do not like to pass this route to Port Harcourt due to tales of rubbery and kidnapping along this route.
I forgot to take pictures of hawkers running on their toes trying to catchup with our bus, trying to make sales to those who wanted to buy, mostly fruits, peanuts, plantain Chips, soft drinks, bottle water etc.
This Aba Road our driver followed isn't too good, the roads are Bad, mostly still under construction but its been years yet not done, on the other hand the Akwa Ibom ogoni Road is just perfect for #travellers, how ever the last time i followed the ogoni Road to Port Harcourt it was alright cause for every 5km there are Road Blocks mounted by security forces atleast this has drastically reduced the crime rate in this region.
At Exactly 12:24 the bus came to a stop at the Port Harcourt bus terminal, and i ThankGod for a safe trip void of any mishap or any incident along the way.
